"Know, oh Prince, that in the early days of Conan's reign as King in Aquilonia, deep ran the inevitable streams of offense. Real or imagined, in all corners of the kingdom, sulked those whose pride, fortune or self was wounded in one manner or another by the Cimmerian's meteoric ascent to power."

Chronicles of Vengeance is a collection of fan-made scenarios meant to be played as a campaign where the players accumulate equipment, spells, and other elements. It follows the solo/cooperative rules laid out in the Tome of Skelos and other Monolith releases. This special edition updates the original 2020 release with new and revised scenarios for the main campaign, as well as a prologue scenario and 2 possible epilogue scenarios - depending on how the players fared during the campaign. There are also 3 new scenarios where the heroes eschew their mortal coils and enter the realm of demons. These are standalone scenarios that show the darker side of the Hyborean Age. We've also added a few extras, like character bios, a travel map to show our heroes' journey, and even a short story based on a playthrough of the first scenario in the campaign, Can I Play With Madness.

To celebrate the vast array of Conan products, this book uses elements from the Conan Core game as well as many additional expansions. Keep in mind that not all expansions are required for every scenario, so there are plenty of scenarios to enjoy if you are missing one or more of these expansion.

    • King’s Pledge
    • Stygia
    • Khitai
    • Nordheim
    • Conan the Conquerer
    • Shadow Kingdom
    • Gods of the North (Mythic Battles Ragnarok crossover)
    • Forbidden Places and Pits of Horror (Modiphius tiles)
    • Perilous Ruins and Forgotten Cities (Modiphius tiles)

Chronicles of Vengeance introduces a new archetype: the Summoner. Summoners are Sorcerers who turned to the darker arts. In addition to the standard Sorcerer options, Chronicles of Vengeance offers new printable character sheets in an appendix for Summoners, as well as for playable Demons.

We are providing this special edition in three formats:

    1. Web Version - this is a single PDF file that you can use digitally. The images have been compressed.

    CONAN_Chronicles_of_Vengeance_Web.pdf

    2. Self Print - this is a single PDF file that you can print at home or your local print shop.

    3. Hardcover Edition - this is two PDF files, one for the cover and the second for the interior content that you can send to a print-on-demand service for a hardback book. I will also provide step-by-step instructions on how to use Lulu, if you choose them as your print-on-demand service.

    Hardcover Printing Instructions for Lulu

Since this is a free, fan-made book, I am not morally or legally allowed to set up a print on demand distribution. Which means you will need to set up an account with a print on demand company and upload files for printing (for personal use only). The directions I list below are for the company Lulu, but you are free to use any print on demand company you choose.
    1. Go to lulu.com and create an account.
    2. Under the CREATE tab, click the PRINT BOOKS option.
    3. Click the button START YOUR PRINT BOOK
    4. Enter your login credentials
    5. In the START YOUR PROJECT section, choose PRINT BOOK
    6. In the SELECT YOUR GOAL section, choose PRINT YOUR BOOK. (Do NOT select Publish your book for sale on Amazon. You will get sued. 🙂 )
    7. In the BOOK DETAILS section, enter a project title of your choice. I recommend Chronicles of Vengeance. Enter a language and CATEGORY, which is required.
    8. Click the DESIGN YOUR PROJECT button at the bottom of the page to proceed to the Design page
    9. In the INTERIOR FILE UPLOAD section, upload the file named “CONAN_Chronicles_of_Vengeance_Hardback_Interior.pdf”
    10. Wait for the file to upload and normalize. This can take a few minutes. Be patient and get yourself a cold beverage.
    11. When the upload finishes, you will see some warnings. Like most warnings in life, feel free to ignore these.
    12. In the BOOK SPECIFICATIONS section, the BOOK SIZE AND PAGE COUNT should already be pre-filled.
    13. In the INTERIOR COLOR section, choose COLOR PREMIUM for the best quality color.
    14. In the PAPER TYPE section, choose 80# COATED WHITE for the best paper quality.
    15. In the BOOK BINDING section, choose HARDCOVER. Feel free to choose a different binding if that floats your boat.
    16. In the COVER FINISH section, choose GLOSSY or MATTE, your choice.
    17. Wait a moment for the PRINT COST to load. This is a printing fee for Lulu, and I do not receive a penny of this, nor does Monolith.
    18. In the DESIGN YOUR COVER section, make sure the UPLOAD COVER FILE option is selected.
    19. Upload the file named “CONAN_Chronicles_of_Vengeance_Hardback_Cover.pdf”
    20. After a minute, the PREVIEW will load. This preview will give you a basic idea of what the book will be like, but it is just a preview and not super-high quality.
    21. When you are ready, click the REVIEW BOOK link at the bottom.
    22. This brings you to a page where you can review the final specifications. Click the checkbox next to CONFIRM BOOK SPECIFICATIONS AND FILES
    23. Click the ADD TO CART button when it becomes enabled
    24. Click the CART icon at the top of the page and make the purchase. The shipping will vary depending where you are located. (Also keep an eye out for discount codes on the home page.)

Feel free to print a copy for  yourself or your friends, but DO NOT PRINT COPIES FOR SALE.
Note: The hardback book you receive from Lulu will not be perfect. There might be alignment issues with the binding, scratches,  the interior margins might be tight, and the endsheets will be a boring white. That being said, it will still kick ass!

In the Burning Heart, does the Fire rule apply to Heroes with the Flying skill, like the Lava does?

Good question, and I can see that I wasn't clear in the rules. A caster with Borne by the Wind can fly over both lava and fire.

Of course, if they start their turn on the ground in an area with fire, they take the damage before casting the spell.

  3. Great questions!

    Boons:

Are Boons for the Archetype (like in Conqueror)? Or for the singular Hero, and is lost if they die?

For this campaign, Boons are attached to a Hero, not an Archetype. I want players to use the same heroes for this campaign. I only provided the option to change heroes for thematic reasons, but it will cost them their Boon. If they die, and return with the same Hero, they get to keep their Boon.

    Defeat:

    The gereral rule states:

"When this happens, the Heroes suffer a Defeat and
lose all the equipment they looted during that scenario."

Is it  always true? Or can scenario rules overrule this?

Scenario rules override general rules. However, I don't recall any scenario rules that override the loot rule. Now that I think about it, the Defeat section is unnecessary because each scenario details how to proceed (replay the scenario or continue).

    Enter the Labyrinth:

In case of Victory, Heroes "get all the items from the asset deck they found during the scenario."

Does that iclude the Yuetshi knife and life potions?

Yes. I guess it could read "get all the items they found during the scenario"

Hi, Ken - do I need to make my own custom tiles for those Corinthian Skeletons, or are they available for download?

Love that this campaign lets me use all my Mythic Battles boards!

    Thanks!

I think the skeletons came as a stretch goal for MBP. If you didn't get it, you might need to proxy it.

Are you still in the process of making a Lulu ready updated version of this @Ken ?
I'm about to order some hardcover Conan campaigns from them, and it would be great to add this as well.

@Sir Kelsag Yes, there is a special edition in the works with revised scenarios (possibly some new ones) and a few other extras, but it will be a while before it is released. There are a few projects ahead of it in the queue.

Hi Ken, thanks you for your work¡ I am excited to start to play this scenarios. I was wondering how do you create the template with Tiles modiphius ( I have them), I know how create a scenearios with https://www.conan-scenarios.com/ but not with this tiles. I would like to do myselft my owns scenarios.

Sorry, I don't believe there is a streamlined way to add the Modiphius tiles, and the source files I use aren't available to the public.

Ok, I've taken things into my own hands and made my own unofficial lulu files (for the book, not the cards/hero sheets), including adding a custom bleed to the covers.

Happy to share if @Ken is ok with it?

@zombocom I actually created a Lulu version that uses the new solo/coop formatting. There were some serious formatting changes that I believe will make it easier to play and a fancy new Beheading chart. The booklet is in the proofreading process now.

I still haven't found  a production quality solution for the appendix files. If you have any ideas on that front, let me know.

  9. Wow, this new version looks great. That cover is sweet, and I love that nothing needs to be printed. I have no idea when I could find the time to play it, but I am tempted to print it out on Lulu to add to my collection for a rainy day (or week).

(I wouldn't mind having the title on the spine English style instead of French style, however. 🙂 )
