  1. I like both of these. I have mocked up a sample chart to show the variable skill purchases based on Victory Points. Bonuses and values are just placeholders. Also, would ALL heroes get bonuses, or would it cost 1 VP per hero? Overlord 4 VP | Heroes 0 (Overlord tiles get +1 armor AND +1 yellow die) Overlord 3 VP | Heroes 1 (Overlord tiles get +1 armor AND +1 yellow die | Heroes get +1 defense) Overlord 2 VP | Heroes 2 (Overlord tiles get +1 armor AND +1 yellow die | Heroes get +1 defense AND +1 Reroll) Overlord 1 VP | Heroes 3 (Overlord tiles get +1 armor | Heroes get +1 defense AND +1 Reroll) Overlord 0 VP | Heroes 4 (Heroes get +1 defense AND +1 Reroll)
  2. @Neil Amswych I think he means we will submit our near finished scenarios and then begin group playtesting.
  3. @drmauric Alternatively, instead of learning the lighting bolt spell, I could use the scepter and make Haddy carry it around it order to cast the spell. @Matt John S@drmauric @Neil Amswych @Primeval Seeing it's the final scenario, I anticipate making tweaks to balance from progression carry-overs. This is why I am OK with Hadrathus getting the gem storing spellbook or characters getting extra gems/and or rerolls. I will take a look at the possible maximum and minimum bonuses and try to balance the scenario for the average. For example, if Hadrathus is going to have more gems, that means he can use more gems for defense, which means I might take away his Mitra's Halo. Or maybe I will give Thoth Amon more health, or more guards. There are plenty of variables that can be tweaked. Also, if we are going to allow the heroes to use VP to upgrade their defense (yikes!), then we should allow the Overlord to use his VP to add 1 yellow die to the base attack for the tiles in the river or something like that.
  4. No, I was going on the assumption that the ongoing demon would be killed in a previous scenario. I used the Outer Dark Demon because he has to be difficult to catch, since he is carrying an artifact.
  5. I love this mechanic, but this will affect The Streets of Khemi in two ways: 1. I am using the spellbook as a chest item in the Streets of Khemi. I will need to find a different item that will teach Hadrathus the lighting bolt spell. 2. Hadrathus is the only one who can kill Thoth Amon, and this will make him a little more powerful. I might need to compensate by making the heroes a little weaker. This leads me to a question: Is your spellbook idea conditional, or will Hadrathus definitely get the spellbook?
  6. Agreed. On our first playtest, the Overlord won on the 2nd turn just by spending all gems on movement. After some more playtests, if needed I can change the boarding planks to add an extra space or two.
  7. OK, I have the first draft of The Streets of Khemi. This is actually a revised version (my gaming group play-tested the original a couple of times last weekend). Obviously, the story will need tweaking, but I think the general premise captures what we discussed. Of course, we will need plenty of play-testing and revisions, but I wanted to make this available. As far as the alternate final battle, I would be happy to tackle that with my idea in the ruined fort with Yogah as the bad-guy. I will work on that soon. The Streets of Khemi.pdf
  8. I have the beginnings of an idea for the alternate final scenario (Ruined Fortress) and wanted to run it by you all. I recall someone suggesting an idea about a scenario where Thoth Amon is trying to gather an idol to either resurrect or take control of Yogah of Yag. If a scenario like that is written and the heroes lose, Yogah of Yag would end up working for Thoth Amon. Here's my idea: Thoth Amon now controls a corrupted Yogah of Yag, who leads the Stygian armies north. This army has won major battles in both Shem and Argos, swelling its ranks with both living mercenaries and the dead, and now threatens the southern border of Aquilonia. Conan gathers his forces and marches south to meet this overwhelming force. He knows the true Yogah of Yag would rather die than cause such evil destruction, and sets out with an elite team to infiltrate the ruined fortress where the evil army is camped with one goal: to kill Yogah. Here is the twist: the Overlord plays Yogah (with the character sheet) in addition to the standard two tiles per round. This should make it especially difficult for the heroes (which I always love to do :) ), but also rather epic. I don't have the scenario mapped out yet (I am waiting to see what the group things of the framework first) but it would be cool to have a dual purpose event tile, where activating the tile helps the Overlord, but each use of the tile also allows Yogah to fight back just a little against the possession, perhaps by inflicting a wound on himself, thus aiding the heroes. Thoughts?
  9. I absolutely agree with @Epaka on this, although I think the decline began a little earlier (with the road of kings). Agreed, although I think the chances of this happening are either slim or non-existent. With my luck, they will have Conan magically teleported to modern day or something.
  10. @drmauric Yeah, @tet2brick is pretty awesome.
  11. Here's my pitch: Taking it to the Streets of Khemi Although frustrated time and again by Conan and his allies, Thoth Amon has discovered that Shuang Mian, a powerful sorcerer from the east, owns the second half of a powerful amulet that, when united, can summon the mortal incarnation of Set. Thoth Amon lures the eastern sorcerer to Khemi with the promise of riches and power. Word of this evil alliance soon reaches King Conan and his allies. Emboldened by their recent victories and carrying Xuthal's Crown as protection from the most heinous sorceries, Conan decides to travel to the heart of Stygia and put an end to Thoth Amon’s plots. Conan, Hadrathus, Ikhmet, and Njord sneak into Khemi and watch from a nearby rooftop as Shuang Mian’s ship pulls into port and ranks of soldiers disembark and flood the streets of Khemi. Maps: Stygia + One Ship Heroes: Conan, Hadrathus, Ikhmet, and Njord Minions: Tower Guards, Honor Guards, Eternal Guards, and Javelin Throwers Villains: Thoth Amon, Shuang Mian, Outer Dark Demon (drops Stygian Artifact when killed) Objective · The heroes have to kill either Thoth Amon or Shuang Mian. · The Overlord has to begin his turn with both Thoth Amon and Shuang Mian in the same zone. Special Rules · A magic aura protects Thoth Amon from all damage except spell damage. This aura prevents Thoth Amon from moving more than his base movement during each activation. · A magic aura protects Shuang Mian from all damage except by someone carrying the Stygian Artifact. This aura prevents Shuang Mian from moving more than his base movement during each activation. · Event Card – The Overlord takes control of a character who is not wearing Xuthal’s Crown. The Overlord may move up to four gems from their reserve zone to their fatigue zone. For each gem moved in this manner, the Overlord may move one gem from the possessed character's reserve to any of the character's action spaces. Limits: No more than two gems per action space, must follow exertion limits, may not use free movement points, may not instruct the character to inflict self-harm or use community gems. The Overlord also gains 8 reinforcement points. Gear · Conan (battle axe, leather armor) · Hadratus (sword + Bori's Rage, Mitra's Halo, Carried By The Wind) · Niord (tribal mace, parrying dagger) · Ikhmet (assassin's dagger, assassin's dagger) · Xuthal’s Crown (0, 1, or 2 crowns depending on previous missions) Chest Loot · Spellbook (allows a caster to learn the spell Lighting Strike) · Halberd · Crossbow · Shield · Health Potion · Health Potion
  12. Yeah, this "bottom-up" approach allows for more creativity but will also require more retrofitting for all our scenarios. Once we have all the concepts out there, it might be easier to the pieces in place.
  13. If my idea pans out for scenario 5/6, I want to use Ikhmet, Hadrathus, Njord, and Conan anyway, so that works great for me!
  14. That was me. No worries! :) I want to reiterate how awesome this tool is, and how much I appreciate your work. It really helps the Conan community. (If you don't mind suggestions, though, I wouldn't mind seeing filters that can show/hide Blood Rage and Mythic Battles content.)
  15. Sounds reasonable. Maybe Hadrathus hires someone to go retrieve an object, or get information from a well guarded informant, etc. We should take care to watch out for scope creep, though. How many scenarios are we each writing? How much time will each scenario add in terms of tweaking and playtesting?
  16. @tet2brick Is there any way you could add the Stygia + Boat map to the Online Scenario Editor? We would also need the planks for embarking. (See attached)
  17. Regarding proxies, if our intention is to make this accessible to non-KS players, each proxy provides a extra step required to play. If everyone adds one or two proxy requirements to their scenario, it will add up. I for one will not be using proxies for this reason. (As much as I really want to use all of the King pledge goodies.) Also, we might want to consider including whatever needs to be proxied in the campaign PDF so the user doesn't have to download two resources. By the way, the map I intend to use (Stygia + Half Ship) is not available in the Conan Scenario editor website. Does anyone have any suggestions? Are there other tools available? I can always Photoshop what I need, but that Scenario editor is so convenient I hate to spend my time with graphics rather than playtesting.
  18. Maybe we can have the demon being the recurring bad, and use the witch hunters in a scenario as a competing group for a resource (rather than working directly for Thoth).
  19. Thematically, a demon might fill this role better.
  20. Considering Shevatas is 25% of the core game heroes, I vote we allow him for this campaign if someone wants to include him. Renaming him might cause more confusion that just implying he survived somehow.
  21. Gotcha. Yes. I like the sound of this. Do we want to count scenario victories and have the final battle take place in Stygia (if the heroes win more) or somewhere in Aquilonia (if the overlord wins more)? Citadel makes the most sense, but I assume that board is out.
  22. The only downside to the witch hunters is the number of tiles they take to field the entire team. If they are a recurring enemy, it is going to feel like the all witch hunter show. We should decide if we want to go this route, and then perhaps split them up. They could be an x-factor in each scenario (1 per scenario) and then all of the living ones could appear in the final battle. If we end up using my final battle idea, I would probably not put them in the river, but rather give the sorcerers the leadership ability and have them activate them.
