  1. Love it. in terms of visuals, it might be worth trying the Outer Dark Demon behind the Dark Demon. I think it would work better. But that’s just window dressing.
  2. My group really want to run The Streets of Khemi when we next get together in the 17th. @Ken is there anything you want to know from that test? Any variant you want us to try out?
  3. I’m playtesting Fragments of Wisdom - a biblically based card game right now. It’s excellent. When the guys come round for the next Conan campaign game (the one with the sarcophagus that I absolutely must win) I’ll ask that our second game is a playtest of one of your scenarios.

  6. So... um... is this campaign moving forward? I feel like we’ve stalled somewhat.

  8. You just reminded me of a wonderful Fry and Laurie sketch...
  9. Yeah I just mean literally one sentence of something like “... and Hadrathus, who has now replaced his spell book...” if @Matt John S insists that Hadrathus have the book in the second adventure, we’ll have to work out how to put it in. Personally, I like Fight or Flight to put the heroes on the back foot somewhat. Your call, boss.
  10. I would definitely rather leave it if possible. Can we write into the introductory text of scenario number 3 that it takes place after he finds a new book?
  11. I playtested it so many times without the spell book because I didn’t realize it was going to be in later scenarios. Seriously, I’ve tested this at least 25 times. I’m not sure so can play it again. If someone else wants to add the spell book and make suggestions for balancing it for the OL as well (it already now leans towards the heroes without the book) then I could try one or two more times. Or, the third scenario’s narrative can have him find a new spell book beforehand. The point of scenario 2 was that they had already met the Dark Demon and nearly lost since the last scenario. Your call but I really don’t have it in me to test this many more times.
  12. Actually I’d tweak that. I’d suggest Medallion of Zhangpau only affects the Dark Demon, not the Outer Dark Demon. That seems especially important for one of the final scenarios which has both, where it would be OP.
  13. Yeah I’m enjoying the idea of getting high and jumping off a wall. Remember kids, drugs are baaaad, m’kay? Fight or Flight is done. It was all but impossible if the heroes went for the Medallion. The one thing I’m not mad about is that I didn’t include Hadrathus’ spell book and I know he had it before and has it afterwards. I may add something to the opening blurb suggesting it got damaged, and then later the implication could be that he got a new one, or repaired it? Busy week but hopefully next week I’ll solo playtest another scenario. What’s this I see about Frost Giant allies? Think I might check that out. is there anyone who is unhappy with their scenario and wants testing and feedback?
  14. Fight Or Flight has been tested to death. It’s ready.
  15. Just to clarify, in mine it's actually quite hard for the heroes to get their hands on the Medallion and escape as well - it's much better for them just to flee and leave it behind. I could make a rule that says that if the heroes don't manage to escape but have the Medallion, they lose it for the next adventure.
  16. My concern is that we could end up with crowns, medallions and shards and it could all start getting rather complicated.

  18. And when I say rumble, I really mean rumble! 11 v 4. But that’s what the heroes get for trying the impossible option!
  19. No, don't worry - after 4 playtest games tonight, I've got a perfect way of getting them in, so long as it's not essential to have one in the final scenario. There are three chests in my scenario, one of which is unguarded. There's a 1/3 chance of them getting the Xuthal Crown from that chest (or a Dagger or some Leather Armor). The other two chests are in the same area, so they could split their forces and give it a try if the Xuthal Crown is what they're really want. It doesn't change the feel of the mission at all, in fact thanks to a fellow playtester and the relocation of a treasure chest (back to the original location from many tests ago!) it's rather added to it. Here's how... In Fight or Flight the heroes now have four choices: 1) Run straight to find the merchant and flee for 1VP (Easy) 2) Rummage through the chests to find the Xuthal Crown before finding the merchant and fleeing for 1VP plus a crown (Normal) 3) Grab the Medallion of Zhangpau, find the merchant and flee for 2VPs (Difficult) 4) Grab the Medallion, rummage through the chests, find the merchant and flee for 2VPs plus a crown (Almost Impossible) So, please ignore my original negative concern - I've reworked it in a way that it can add a lot to the adventure. Here's the scenario now... https://www.conan-scenarios.com/edit.php?MissionId=1090 It just ended with the biggest rumble I've ever seen, which was a crazy amount of fun. And yes, the heroes lost because they tried choice number 4. Fight or Flight 8.0.pdf
  20. Okay. After the umpteenth playtest of Fight or Flight, it needs an overhaul. I can put a crown in a chest IF it’s not essential for the heroes to have it in a later scenario. Helpful is fine, essential is a problem. To be clear, if they go for chests in my scenario, they will almost certainly lose.
  21. By the way, here's the latest, most balanced version of Fight or Flight. https://www.conan-scenarios.com/edit.php?MissionId=1090 Fight or Flight 7.0.pdf
  22. Could the crowns work as a chest item in Fight or Flight? I guess they could. No-one ever goes for the chests guarded by the pirates because at the moment they've just got a sword and a shield in them. Could you change that for a crown? I guess so. It would slow down the heroes which might be interesting. It does mean three objectives in the scenario, though - grab the Medallion of Zhangpau, grab the crown and find the merchant. If the Medallion is replaced with a crown, which is possible, it rather standardizes this scenario somewhat. I have realized that no-one else is using the Medallion, though, so it's rather a one-off use. I won't get precious about this. I rather liked the way my scenario was shaping up, especially now I think I've got it balanced. I am just concerned that if every scenario forces players to open chests for a key item, it flattens the campaign somewhat in terms of game-play narratives.
