Special rules summary

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

My idea to compile in a single document all the special rules from the official scenarios which could have a general use, to use them as a reference for fan-made scenarios. For example, if there are official rules regarding how to carry an ally, you just look them up and use them in your scenario. This would make the game more streamlined  and save time for scenarists.

It's too much work for a single person, so let's make a collaborative effort if you like the idea.

I proppose the following format:

Source

Core set (Barbarian/King), expansion (Nordheim, Stygia, Kithai), Web scenario (only official ones published by Monolith)

Scenario tittle the game mechanic is taken from

Rule name

It must be something descriptive such 'Darkness', 'carrying an ally', etc.

Description

Adapting the rule to a general case

Your toughts on how to make a more general use of the rule, if needed.

I'll compile all of them and make them available for download in the Download section, and I'll maintain an index in this first post of the scenarios already revised.

Revised Scenarios

Core set (Barbarian)

- In the Clutches of the Picts.

Core set (King)

None

Nordheim Expansion

None

Kithai Expansion

None

Stygia Expansion (done)

- The Lost King.

Defeat or Die.

The Fitfth Plague of Stygia.

I'll start with the first one.

Source: Core set (Barbarian)

Scenario tittle: In the Clutches of the Picts

Rule name: Carrying an ally

Description:

- A Hero can pick up an unsconcious/willing ally usin a Simple Manipulation

- The Hero and the ally must be in the same area

Adapting the rule to a general case

- An unarmed princes has an encumbrance value of 6, the encumbrance value of another ally must be extrapolated from there. First extrapolated the base encumbrance (body weight) and then add his equipment.

Example: Black Dragon

- Base encumbrance: 9

- Equipment: heavy armour, (3), he would lose his sword and shield if unconscious as any other character and his attack and defense should be modified in the scenario to reflect this.

- Total:  12

An unwilling target (enemy) cannot be picked up, this would be some sort of attack not covered by this rule.

Source: Stygia Expansion

Scenario tittle: The Lost King

Rule name: Poisoned

Description: Place a number of poison tokens equal to the amount of damage inflicted to hero, either on the Melee Attack action space or the Move action space of their hero's sheet. Each poison token on an action space reduces by 1 the exertion limit of that action. When both exertion limits are reduced to zero, theat hero immediately dies.

Note: Poison tokens are included in the Stygia Expansion.

Rule name: Jumping into water

Description: A character adjacent to a water area may move into that area with no movement penalty. when a character without Swiming moves into a water area, that character dies immediately.

Adapting the rule to a general case

- A character without Swiming may not die if the water area is not deep enough for him to drown.

Source: Stygia Expansion

Scenario tittle: The Fitfth Plague of Stygia

Rule name: Damage in burning areas

Description: When a  character moves into an area with a flame token (burning area, not  Overlord reinforcement in this scenario), that character rolls two red dice for burning damage. The hero can perform a Guard action using his Armour bonus and shield bonus, but no weapons guard bonus can be applied.

Adapting the rule to a general case

Damage suffered could be different depending on the intensity of the flames.
