Epaka
While I'd still love to get around to building huts for this gameboard (and scenery for all the boards), I started out small by making 3-D fencing for the Pict village. My reasons were twofold; scenery is always cool and enhances the thematic and visual factors, but I also wanted to improve gameplay by making it much more obvious where players can move on this map. I cut out cardboard shapes that aligned with the map art, used some quick-drying modeling clay to sculpt the dirt mounds, and broke toothpicks in half for the boma fencing. I gave it a quick brown paint job, leaving the broken tops of the toothpicks bare. I had picked up a bag of dried moss and a couple model trees from a craft store and worked those in as well. Really brought the gameboard to life!
