Xaltotun
Honestly I remember in Conan and Bran Mak Morn books the Picts as a fierce and quite dark skinned people (far from irish men and scots): seems that Howard believed the old theory about their arrival from the Northern Africa. I painted them too white I guess, and maybe, I should have used more blue for their tattooes, so following what I read about them in some history book somewhere... Epaka
They look great @Xaltotun! Nice work. Truth be told, these minis and their game art don’t exactly depict (!) the Picts as they are described in the stories, so I think any color scheme works fine.
Not Quite Dead
By reading Beyond the Black River and looking at Louinet's comments, it seems to me that REH's Picts are more similar to Native American than to the historical Pictish tribes. Here's my Pictish archers, by the way, painted quite a while back:

Epaka
The Picts for this game are nicely sculpted, but are overall too cartoonish for my tastes. They don’t look like a regular human race at all. It’s really the only complaint I have about the minis for this game: their varying scale and style. Most of the minis seem to based on normal, humanoid physiology. But some of them, like the Picts and Baal Pteor, are very stylized and exaggerated. The Picts have the look of unrealistic, comic book Neanderthals. Not at all what I see in my mind’s eye when reading Beyond the Black River. Still, they look good enough on the game table for sure. 🙂
garbetsp
If we're on a tangent about artistic complaints, my personal one is Khosatral Khel. That guy is a metallic android in the story, not a muscle buffed beefeater.
