Demetrio
Maybe a stupid question... but to clarify... if you use an area of effect spell on your own area, the spell caster will also suffer the damage from the spell, correct? The question came up when playing "In the clutches of the picts" and Hadrathus barged into a hut full of picts and was then taking them out using lightning storm. I would say that the spell caster also has to suffer the damage since it is an area of effect, similar to an explosive orb...
thrainn
Yes, that's how I would interpret it as well.
garbetsp
From the Heroes Rule Book v2: Quote (6) Icons: (Area Effect Symbol) indicates that the spell is an area attack that affects an entire area and all characters within it (the spell caster and all friendly and enemy characters). --pg.4 lower left. Quote Characters defend against and suffer damage from spell attacks as they would against other attack. --pg. 16 upper left, 1st paragraph, last sentence. So yes.
