  1. Really surprised there isn't already a topic about this or any updates posted to the KS pages.

I'd have thought this would be big news Monolith would want to share with their fans.

Monolith is taking the license from Modiphius and will be developing their own take on an Rpg.

MONOLITH HANDED THE CONAN ROLEPLAYING GAME LINE FROM MODIPHIUS FOR NEW EXCITING ROLEPLAYING STORIES IN THE HYBORIAN AGE!

“When we first started exploring Robert E. Howard’s world of Conan, little did we imagine the full expanse of what was to come. It’s been an incredible journey working with top Conan scholars, talented writers and artists who gave their all to dig deep into the Conan stories and bring them to life in a truly authentic way.” Said Chris Birch, Chief Creative Officer of Modiphius Entertainment. “Now with twenty beautiful hardback books to our name and numerous beautiful accessories, we are ready to call time on our journeys across Hyboria. We’ve reached the point where we feel like we have done justice to REH’s words, delivered some incredible Conan swords & sorcery gaming, and reached the ends of the Hyborian world in every direction we could imagine. It’s time to pass on the mantle to new hands who can tell a new story in the Hyborian age!”

The roleplaying game line, under licence from Heroic Signatures (Formally Cabinet Entertainment), will end on Dec 31st, no more re-stocks are being ordered, and all stock will be sold by June 30th 2023.

If you’ve been waiting to pick up one of the books, now is your chance, either from retail or from the US or UK-based webstores. Get them while you can!

Matthew John, Conan Board Game Developer for Monolith added “For 8 years now, Conan, Heroic Signatures and Monolith have been treading the lands of Robert E. Howard’s Hyborian Age, finding grand inspiration for our products. Our board game, which rallied tens of thousands of players, was soon joined by a great role-playing game, thanks to Modiphius, who did a fantastic job diving deep into this exciting setting. As fans, we’ll be forever grateful to Modiphius for their work and our collaborations on Conan.

We’ve said it before, Howard's stories are part of Monolith’s DNA, and so we happily accepted Heroic Signatures’ offer to develop our own Conan roleplaying game–one we can infuse with our passion and unique creative vision. While we prepare our next Conan board game project, which will offer new, long-awaited features next year, we wanted to let fans know it is not the only Conan game we’re bringing to the table–or rather, your tables.

So…Monolith will bring back the Conan board game, then an all-new role-playing game! And who knows–it’s certainly possible that our admiration for Robert E.Howard's work will lead us beyond the borders of the Hyborian Age.

Stay tuned, Conan fans; we’re just getting started”.

  2. You got yours so quick, I'm jealous. My order has been "in production" for 2 weeks now. I'm excited to get it, especially now since my Conqueror expansion has arrived. Ha!

Just saw that you updated it to 3.1.1 so I put in a request to LuLu to see if I can update before they make mine

The page numbers seem to start too high.

Just uploaded the v3 book to lulu. I get the following errors:

Images: Your file contains images with resolution less than 200 pixels per inch. Lulu suggests using images with a pixel per inch range of 200-600 for the best results.

Transparency: We detected an element that may be transparent within your file. We strongly recommend flattening or removing any transparencies in your file.

Full Bleed: Please note that a white Bleed margin has been added to your file. The book preview will show how this Bleed margin impacts your file. If you require image content that extends to the trimmed edge of the page, please upload a PDF prepared for Full Bleed.

Yeah. Page numbers are still high (page 8 is actually page 4 etc...), but I figured no biggie and ordered a hardcover anyway.

And that error is normal for Conan stuff. Even the official Conan stuff like Hither Came Conan throws that error. I have no idea why the Conan stuff is like that, the transpapency issue drives me nuts as it prints white lines & artifacts around objects that shouldn't actually be printing. Even the official damn book is like that.

I wonder if it's because none of these files are flattened, but still in layers? No idea, but so far I've had Hither Came Conan, Heart of Ahriman, Tales from the North & Whispers from Stygia printed and all of them have that issue in minor degrees

  4. Awesome. I'll put in my Hardcover order right now.

Appreciate you getting it all updated man!

My Conqueror all-in gets delivered tomorrow, so cool timing!

EDIT: Maybe should pull all the old files down so people easily know what is the latest fixed version?

    EDIT 2: Ordered!

Thanks for your help, I will make some covers !

Cool, will you be fixing the page numbering too?

    Quote

pages numbered 5, 6 & 7 in the LuLu file are on the wrong pages as those page numbers print in the inside margin rather than the outside corner like the rest of the book.

Looks like this is because the PDF has 2 additional pages not included in the LuLu file (Pdf page 2 "Check for the latest version before playing" page. And Pdf page 8 "Rules of the new gameboards")

So the LuLu file page count gets thrown off for pages 5, 6 & 7. Could be fixed by adding a single page in front of those... maybe an art splash page before the table of contents page or something? The rest of the book is correct.

  6. Hither_Came_Conan_US_Cover

As a Magazine: Gives this error

Book Size: Your PDF dimensions are 18.542" x 13.444" (470.96mm x 341.49mm)For the book size you selected, the PDF dimensions need to be within 16.728"-16.853" x 11.877"-12.002". (424.88mm-428.05mm x 301.69mm-304.86mm). Please update your PDF dimensions or select a different book size.

As a Hardback Book: Previewed just as it should. Looks like it would print just as good as the print copy I had made myself

    Whispers_From_Stygia_Hardback_Cover

As a Magazine: Also doesn't work, gives the same error

Book Size: Your PDF dimensions are 18.542" x 13.444" (470.96mm x 341.49mm)For the book size you selected, the PDF dimensions need to be within 16.728"-16.853" x 11.877"-12.002". As a Hardback Book: Also previewed just as it should and also looks like the print copy I own

However, the page numbering of the interior is still off as I mentioned a few comments back

  7. OK, I retested all 6 combinations again to be sure. Here's the breakdown for you

    Luu_Hard_Cover_302x427.pdf

Will not work for a Hardcover Book, errors

Will work as a Magazine, just missing interior page art

    LuLu_Hard_Cover.pdf

Will not work for a Magazine, errors

Will work as a Hardcover, however it is cut off at the top and off-center so not usable

    Front_back_inside_cover_magazine.pdf

Will not work for a Magazine or for a Hardcover, gives errors for each

  8. Thanks,

Just tried the new file: lulu_hard_cover_302x427

LuLu will not accept it as a cover for a Hardcover Book.

LuLu will accept it as a Saddlestitched Magazine cover and it appears to be perfectly centered. However it is missing the internal sleeve/page art

For a Hardcover Book it gives this error:

Book Size: Your PDF dimensions are 16.806" x 11.889" (426.86mm x 301.98mm)For the book size you selected, the PDF dimensions need to be within 18.478"-18.603" x 13.377"-13.502". (469.33mm-472.50mm x 339.79mm-342.96mm). Please update your PDF dimensions or select a different book size.

In case it might be of use : when I print it in "real size" (i.e. not "fit to page") the crop marks & bleed margins are automatically removed.

I've tried printing it with Chrome set for pdfs and Windows set for pdfs and tried every page/printing option and it always shows the crops on screen and prints them as well (or crops the image to make it unprintabel)

How or what program are you using to open/print it?

EDIT: Just tried it from my work PC too and same thing, crop/cut guides no matter what program or settings I use.

EDIT 2: Looks like the documents sizes don't match:

    Compendium One & Two are both 8.85 x 12.28

    Compendium Three is 8.5 x 11.93

I also found older versions of the Compendiums that do all print correctly (although they have slightly different covers with the # at the top right white on orange). All 3 of these Compendiums print correctly and all 3 are 8.5 x 11.93, so maybe that is the size these files here were supposed to be done at.

This .pdf is now available so that you can print it yourself. 😉

Compendium 3 & 4 are fine, but Compendiums 1 & 2 have crop marks in the corners of every page so no good to print.

Any chance of getting clean versions that match 3 & 4?

  11. The new Hardback cover file also won't work as a magazine. Gives this error

And trying to use the Magazine cover file as a magazine gives this error

    Quote

Book Size: Your PDF dimensions are 16.972" x 11.944" (431.09mm x 303.39mm)For the book size you selected, the PDF dimensions need to be within 16.728"-16.853" x 11.877"-12.002". (424.88mm-428.05mm x 301.69mm-304.86mm). Please update your PDF dimensions or select a different book size.

    Hopefully that helps!

  12. Cool thanks.

Just tried it and it does let it process and show a preview this time, but it's a bit to big. The Conan Sands of Despair Title is far right on the cover and cut off at the top. The text on the back is far left of center. The spine title is off center.

It also looks like pages numbered 5, 6 & 7 in the LuLu file are on the wrong pages as those page numbers print in the inside margin rather than the outside corner like the rest of the book.

Looks like this is because the PDF has 2 additional pages not included in the LuLu file (Pdf page 2 "Check for the latest version before playing" page. And Pdf page 8 "Rules of the new gameboards")

Now I'll  try it as a magazine to see how that Cover works there.

  13. Trying to get v2.2 to print on LuLu, but when selected as a magazine it just says the cover is formatted the wrong size and won't go any further. It won't even show me the preview.

Printing it as a book doesn't work either as the cover has the inner leaf art.

Anyone actually get v2.2 to print yet and how did you get it to go through?
