  1. Frazetta because...well, no need to tell why....it's just so obvious.

As Matt John, "Big" John Buscema - The "one and only Conan" in the comics.

More recently, I really enjoy the illustrations of Gregory Manchess, as some of his paintings try to capture the essence of the character.

This is the first printing of The God and the Bowl by Howard and L Sprague de Camp. I believe ( happy to be corrected) the story was discovered after Howard's death and completed by de Camp. I found it about 20 years ago in Comic shop in Sydney.

For english readers, the best book edition about Conan are the three books published by Del Rey Books - "The Coming of Conan the Cimmerian", "The Bloody Crown of Conan" and "The Conquering Sword of Conan". They are the only and totally complete edition existing today, according to the original texts of Robert E. Howard.

This edition, directed by Patrice Louinet (one of the finest REH scholar in the world) is only based on the texts of Howard, according to his typescripts (or the first original publications when they no longer exist). The texts are rid of the additions, rewrites and apocryphal censures of Lyon Sprague de Camp and Lin Carter.

  3. A few years ago, the RPG game launched on Kickstarter by Modiphius was playtested by a group of gamers in Robert E. Howard's dining room. This game was once again played by a group of gamers in the Cross Plains Public Library. These past days, a smaller faction of this Cross Plains Library RPG gaming group relocated to the front porch of the Howard House to play the Monolith's boardgame.

  4. Wow! Some people really get to the bottom of things!
Members of the Cross Plains Library RPG gaming group are playing Conan.. right under the front porch of Robert E. Howard's family house. If that ain't cool...

These two pages feature two excerpts of Robert E. Howard's Beyond the Black River and two texts by @Pallantides about the Picts and their shaman Zogar Sag. As I haven't read yet that novel and fear to be spoiled, I haven't read the texts. But it seems quite interesting for those who like to have more background.

The excerpts of Robert E. Howard's novels are physical descriptions of the main characters/monsters (no major spoilers inside).

My texts are general informations about the Hyborian Age and presentations of the main characters/monsters (who they are, what they do...) corresponding to the REH's excerpts and illustrations of the book but without any spoiler, so feel free to read.

  6. The English version content of The Book of Set will be identical to the French one. It will include artworks from Adrian Smith, Brom, Cl4renko, photography of miniatures painted by Martin Grandbarbe with excerpts of Robert E. Howard texts and background texts (for main characters, monsters, locations...). And last but not least, approximatively 20 scenarios which will be available on  the Monolith website for free. You already know some of them : Death from the North, The Terrible Lovers, The Zamboula Strangler, ...
