  1. Believe it or not, I am interested in the Stygia final battle. I have an idea for an event tile that allows Thoth to take control of a hero through something like Mind Control. The overlord could then spend gems 1 for 1 to use that hero's gems to take actions. This could help offset any buffs the heroes carry over from previous scenarios, but there would be limitations (no self harm, no using of communal gems, etc.). Perhaps if there is a reward from previous encounters (a ring or amulet or something), anyone carrying said item is immune from the mind control.

If the final battle is already claimed, I could take Khitai and use my idea with Shuang Mian.

  2. I like the idea of two final battles based on whether the heroes succeed in their mission or not. If they succeed, they take the fight to the streets of Khemi (with the boat map - two maps feels more epic). In this case, the heroes have access to a weapon or magical protection that will help them.

If they fail, the fight takes place closer to home, and the heroes do not have access to the weapon/magical protection.

  3. This scenario can be played with 3 or 5 players because it has three teams: the Overlord vs the Royal Team (Conan/Pallantides) vs the Necromancer Team (Pelias/Taurus). Each team has different win conditions and can battle each other. It uses the citadel map.

I posted this on the French forum a few months ago, but since then I revised it based on play-testing. Any feedback would be appreciated.

    Intro:

Far to the south, the warlock Nesbit has conquered a garrison of Aquilonian soldiers and raised them as skeletons to defend him.

King Conan has gathered his forces for a frontal assault. Knowing time runs short and that the Warlock is per forming a ritual that will raise a horde large enough to over whelm his entire army, Conan, Pallantides, and a handful of soldiers have pushed forward, prepared to storm the citadel. Meanwhile, the necromancer Pelias has decided to take advantage of the raging battle to steal the ancient Stygian artifact that grants Nesbit the power to raise the dead: the Idol of Yag Kosha. With the help of a hired thief named Taurus, Pelias has infiltrated the citadel's rear entrance. Time is running out, however, because Nesbit has bound the Idol to his life force. If Nesbit dies while the Idol is still within the citadel, it will also be destroyed.

  4. I tried this scenario two more times against a different opponent. Once again, we both took turns as the Overlord, and both times the Overlord won. Yogah came close once by opening three chests, but the first two contained life potions and he got swarmed before he could reach the fourth chest.

  5. Great scenario!

In the final round, a bloody and beaten Zaparavo arrived at the last bonfire, guarded by Valeria, but failed to light it. At the same time, Pallantides reached the final lever, but before he could pull it to free Conan, a pirate burst into the room to grapple with him as the last round expired. Thus, the game ended in a tie.

  6. Me and a friend tried this scenario 4 different times and neither of us could figure out a strategy for Zelata. We tried a) moving slowly as a combined group (to take advantage of the wolf buffs), b) blitzing with the wolves directly at the swamp demon, and c) a three-pronged attack from the entrance platforms. No matter which strategy, the wolves quickly fell and Zelata was always struggling for energy gems.

Has anyone had any success defeating the overlord in this scenario? If so, can you describe the successful strategy?

EDIT: After reading the French forum, I realize we were playing wrong. We only applied the "wolf pack" bonus when the wolves were in the same zone as Zelata, which rendered the other wolves ineffective.

  7. If I understand this correct, moving from a water zone to a forest zone (the zones with stairs) costs 3 movement points.  However, moving from a water zone onto a platform only costs 2. Is this correct? It seems like it should be easier to move onto land than climb up into a platform.

  8. Fun scenario! Conan got mired in melee with Pict Warriors and Balthus got too aggressive killing them to free him up. As the Overlord, I took the opportunity to weaken Balthus with the Sabre-tooth tiger and then I finished him off with Pict Archers. Unfortunately, I lost the tiger in the process. The conclusion was epic, and I had a chance to win on the final turn by killing the final two guards with 3 archers - but I missed with all 3 shots.

  9. Played twice tonight. OL easily won both times by swarming Yogah, who wasted too many gems trying (and failing) to open chests.

The first game I played Yogah and busted into the southeast hut (life potion), then the northeast hut. By this time, the OL had all his units waiting for me.

The second game, I played the OL.  Yogah made a beeline for the western huts, wasted 5 gems getting a life potion, and busted out to where my troops were waiting to gang up on him.
