  1. The Burning Heart of Ahriman CONAN_Burning_Heart_of_Ahriman_Thumb.jpg.c52bf06ef00891bdd85b09064dfdc2ba.jpg

"Know, O Prince, that ancient gods rose and fell like the waves. Once such god, Ahriman, summoned all manner of creatures who tormented mankind in ways no longer spoken. As Ahriman’s power waned, these creatures were hunted near extinction, for revenge ever burns in the heart of mankind."

Paperback Printing Instructions for Lulu image.png.be0f67c35122ba52b29c3e2a46f5d184.png

Since this is a free, fan-made book, I am not morally or legally allowed to set up a print on demand distribution. Which means you will need to set up an account with a print on demand company and upload files for printing (for personal use only). The directions I list below are for the company Lulu, but you are free to use any print on demand company you choose.

Note: Some images are low res, and others (like the ships) are scans of cardboard product. The print version will not be as high quality as a professional book, and some images display a box around them. If this bothers you, I recommend not printing the book and playing with the digital version instead.

    1. Go to lulu.com and create an account.
    2. Under the CREATE tab, click the PRINT BOOKS option.
    3. Click the button START YOUR PRINT BOOK
    4. Enter your login credentials
    5. In the START YOUR PROJECT section, choose PRINT BOOK
    6. In the SELECT YOUR GOAL section, choose PRINT YOUR BOOK. (Do NOT select Publish your book for sale on Amazon. You will get sued. 🙂 )
    7. In the BOOK DETAILS section, enter a project title of your choice. I recommend The Burning Heart of Ahriman. Enter a language and CATEGORY, which is required..
    8. Click the DESIGN YOUR PROJECT button at the bottom of the page to proceed to the Design page
    9. In the INTERIOR FILE UPLOAD section, upload the file named “CONAN_Burning_Heart_of_Ahriman_Interior_Lulu.pdf”
    10. Wait for the file to upload and normalize. This can take a few minutes. Be patient and get yourself a cold beverage.
    11. When the upload finishes, you will see some warnings. Like most warnings in life, feel free to ignore these.
    12. In the BOOK SPECIFICATIONS section, the BOOK SIZE AND PAGE COUNT should already be pre-filled at A4 and 20 pages, respectively.
    13. In the INTERIOR COLOR section, choose COLOR PREMIUM for the best quality color.
    14. In the PAPER TYPE section, choose 80# COATED WHITE for the best paper quality.
    15. In the BOOK BINDING section, choose SADDLE STICHED. Feel free to choose a different binding if that floats your boat.
    16. In the COVER FINISH section, choose GLOSSY (because who doesn’t like glossy over Matte, right?)
    17. Wait a moment for the PRINT COST to load. For me it is $7.22. This is a printing fee for Lulu, and I do not receive a penny of this, nor does Monolith.
    18. In the DESIGN YOUR COVER section, make sure the UPLOAD COVER FILE option is selected.
    19. Upload the file named “CONAN_Burning_Heart_of_Ahriman_Cover_Lulu.pdf”
    20. After a minute, the PREVIEW will load. This preview will give you a basic idea of what the book will be like, but it is just a preview and not super-high quality.
    21. When you are ready, click the REVIEW BOOK link at the bottom.
    22. This brings you to a page where you can review the final specifications. Click the checkbox next to CONFIRM BOOK SPECIFICATIONS AND FILES
    23. Click the ADD TO CART button when it becomes enabled
    24. Click the CART icon at the top of the page and make the purchase. The shipping for me was around $5.00, but of course that will vary depending where you are located. (Also keep an eye out for discount codes on the home page.)

Feel free to print a copy for  yourself or your friends, but DO NOT PRINT COPIES FOR SALE.
Note: The book I received from Lulu was not perfect. There was an alignment issue with the binding, there was a scratch on the back cover, the interior margins were tight, and the endsheets were a boring white. Overall, however, I am highly pleased.

  2. So we are on the same page:

Sacrifice  - When a friendly character in this character’s area is attacked, before dice are rolled, this character may choose to be attacked instead. This character cannot Guard for that defense.

Circular Strike - When this character kills an enemy character with a 2-handed Melee Attack, another enemy character in the same area suffers the excess damage from the attack (if that character is killed, repeat this process).

Is your friend is saying that a) the Sacrifice skill invalidates Circular Strike, or b) that the Sacrifice skill can be used to redirect the excess damage from a Circular Strike over and over until there are no more units with Sacrifice?

Thematically, it makes sense too. Think of it like a pellet gun (regular attack) versus a 50 caliber rifle (circular strike).

How I play Sacrifice : With a regular attack, one single dude can absorb all damage of said attack, indeed. But if one of the heroes has Circular Strike skill, he can kill several dudes with 1 attack, even if they have Sacrifice (remaining damage still goes to another dude after the sacrificed one). Area attacks (Lighting storm, Explosive orb, etc) work as well. Maybe it could helps killing the guards & archers faster ?

I agree with Roolz on this. Sacrifice is basically a meat shield. A big circular swing can slice through the meat shield AND the target (and anything else nearby if the swing is big enough).

"The North?” rumbled the Red-Haired Woman, seated across from a soft faced lad. She slowly lowered the mug of ale at her lips until it thunked on the table. When she continued menace edged her voice. “Aye, I am of the North. What’s it to you?"

Many months ago the Nemedian Chroniclers recruited a group of hardy scribes from all across the land. These scribes were tasked to travel into far reaches of Nordheim in search of wondrous tales and treasures. Instead, the few who returned, frost bitten and mad, in their moments of fevered consciousness raved of more harrowing encounters. Tales of ice and blood. Haunted groves and ravenous beasts. Fierce women and desperate men. Tales of frost blasted forests. Circling crows and sharp swords. Sorcerous beauties and murderous savages. Tales of the North...

Tales of the North Special Edition is a collection of fan-made scenarios for both Adventure Mode and Solo/Co-op. Six authors deliver 17 scenarios focused primarily on the Nordheim expansion for both Adventure mode and Solo/Co-op mode. See the table of contents for full requirements.

... but what about the singles I see floating around places like eBay (giant spider/scorpion, swamp demon, etc.)

FYI - Those aren't expansions. Those people are selling individual pieces from the kickstarter stretch goals. Like Seaorgrudy said, get the King pledge (which contains all the stretch goals) if you can, or the Barbarian pledge (which contains most of the stretch goals) instead of buying them piecemeal.

Board Game Geek has a good list of Conan expansions here:
