    @XaltotunThose guards are perfect!

I wasn't going to include the creepy diaper guy, but now that we have it, I'll give it a thought when we reach that scenario.

Thanks a lot for your work!

By the way, let's think about stats for the guards. I'd save the Bodyguard skill for the heavy armored masked ones.

I was going to create the orgy room scenario before ever we started to work on the full movie.

If I don't find better for the masked pot stirrers I'm going to use The Colosse by Sygill forge, love that figure

Here's a guard directly from the Mountain of Doom. I'm working on another one with an axe.

@Arthadan As you asked I didn''t apply any filter. ;-)

Hope this can be quite good for you.

Rexor is coming but unfortunately it seems very hard to add legs to the picture I previously had uploaded.

    That's spot on

    Hi team,

I was not very present on this topic (because very busy these last times) even if I found you very active and I find your ideas very interesting ! :dwarf:

Even If Crom often doesn't care of human beings I'm certain he is glad of your work! :sorcerer:

Moreover, you are doing a very good job with all the tiles!

To help you in doing them I did some research on the net, and I found some links towards hundreds of drawings & pictures !

Maybe the link 1, link 2 and link 3 could help you to do the missing tiles

Below find a small extract from the links above where very skillful artists drew  beautiful pictures about the "Conan the barbarian"  movie!

Some great finds there F, particularly love that one of Conan's mom

Still on holidays in France. Yesterday I was in a museum and I couldn't help thinking in our dear princess:

    A did I mention a bigger wiggle?

That lady was wiggling all she had for dear life but according to the sculptor ...it wasn't much    ;0)

@Stonewolf actually I'm cosidering to have one solo scenario for each character.

I - Hither came Conan the Cimmerian (Conan)

IV - The Tree of Woe (Subotai)

V - The spirits here ask a heavy toll (Valeria)

How does that sound to you?

I've been thinking about this and it really works as a solo scenario for Subotai if Valeria is present, but just as an ally who's first concern is fussing over Conan

Subotai has to cover them and fend off all comers.

A suggestion as to how it could be handled, just to get us talking:

Stage 1.     First a die roll for how long it takes her to get him down off the Tree of Woe                 (d3?)       Fight off the vultures?

Stage 2.     Then roll for her time fussing over him on the ground and trying to bring him round   (2d3?)     The hyenas smelt blood...    One ear and his pack

Stage 3.     They stagger slowly toward the map exit with Conan draped over her                                            Thorgrim's revenge (a kill on Thorgrim would make him retreat instead - need him for later)

Stagger to the edge mechanic - C&V must choose between 4 exit areas, one on each map edge and end each turn closer to the one chosen except:

They may not enter a zone that contains a surviving enemy.

If all routes toward the target are blocked the player may then choose another exit for them to go for if wished

Valeria takes a retaliation swing at anything that attacks her or C,  preferably just one dice - we'll need a "Valeria as ally" card, the two of them have a joint wounds total listed on it

Once Conan and Valeria exit the map alive the little guy's work is done

*One ear the pack alpha may be a heroic enemy with his own card and an applicable skill

Lots of choice of mechanics we could think up and use  instead, solo scenarios need extra playtesting and careful thought as they're unforgiving

I quote you: you really said it!!

Best thing about that is that I mean it because it is true

Which is a fantastic result given this project was begun with huge ambition and has all the potential to give so much fun so close to the Conan material that actually brought so many of us to the books.

To see that first part, first essential bite of the project come together so well, so quickly, real work accomplished, hard work (just how do you make a map like that?)       getting done.

Not only is it fun and satisfying but it bodes a successful awesome, essential to the canon project.

    @Stonewolf you sell yourself short!

    Dude   .......I am short!

And whilst anyone can see that artwork is a skilled rendering of the material, I sincerely suggest the lady needs a bigger wiggle, can we correct the casting director's mistake?

I have to say you are improving my ideas and it's great to have you on board!

Generous of you given I've mostly just chattered heh

I'm glad to be on board but I still have no boards!   So hard waiting for my boxes to turn up heh

Wife is already fed up with my enthusiasm, and the mess I'm making sculpting Black Ones now I no longer have an office at home to corral the mess.

She's going out tomorrow in self defence...

  10. Guys this encountr has shaken down so well and so quickly, I really like all of the final options that have been chosen.

I really think it will play out really well and more importantly with the weapon swapping/trap mechanics, the supporting cast and the dark sorceror who can now get into the heart of the conflict if he chooses I think it is totally recognisable and yet has much more potential to play out many different ways.

A great start to a major and much loved project, nice work!

PS     Thulsa Doom's soldiers now have a new battlecry     "Thorgrim's trousers!!"

and we all know he's not pleased to see us... he used to keep a snake he raised in those bad boys

I do believe the ridiculous rig of his swords is an stylistic choice of the film, same as the ridiculously big hammer Thorgrim has.

The rig of his swords can be explained only 3 ways

    1. They are not sword hilts, they are carefully camouflaged external reinforcing stays for his corset - see heavy armour styling

    2.  He's riding a small bicycle and they're not sword hilts - they're the handlebars

    3.  They're a stylistic choice of the film,  same as the ridiculously big hammer Thorgrim has.

Now you know that Thorgrim didn't have a hammer - it was a hobby horse he rode throughout the movie, only after the filming did they realise the ears and mane had fallen off.

  12. I've always used background music and my players know to sit up and grab the dice when I reach for the remote to change the track to something gritty or stonking.

That said my actual favourite is the first Conan soundtrack   Basil Basil Poledouris produced some of my favourite pieces of music just for this movie.

(I've chosen "Funeral Pyre" for my own funeral arrangements, the way it builds that same simple theme all the way from sombre memorialising to glorious soaring - love it and I do need to be gloriously celebrated!!!!!  - and the wife has vetoed any Monty Python)

Braveheart, Gladiator, Pirates of the Carribean - At World's End (especially Singapore), Excalibur of course,  to name just some regulars.

I use the Icewind Dale sountrack from the game franchise, better than a game deserves, the music from Skyrim too

In the past I've encouraged my players to make up a CD and now that every phone stores and plays a truckload of hifi quality playlist it's gotten so easy.

As GM I rule with the divine right of kings over all aspects of the session, the word SKIP!  may have been a little callously used in relation to some tracks among player's music choices..

You can as well give some clue for your previous movies, if no one was able to guess.

Anyway, as the second one isn't so hard for someone who watch French movies, I'll try to fetch some points:

The easy one (not so sure, but I'll try), may be One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (1975), by Milos Forman.

The hard one, easier for me, is The Professional or Léon: the professional (1994), directed by Luc Besson.

Just curious: what were the movies you showed us in your previous post? It didn't ring a bell for me.

Gah....  I'm putting up a Jean Reno film as a hard ask on an anglo-french forum     hahahahaha

Yup you're spot on with One Flew Over, such a great movie and not easy to find a still without Jack in the middle of it heh

You're spot on with The Professional or Léon: the professional, in the UK I remember it as just being titled Leon for a third option. Remarkable for it's performances it's a gloriously haunting, sparkling piece. Besson's best for me.

The first of my earlier offerings was Mr Vampire (1985), don't be fooled by the plot synopsis it's one of the funniest movies you'll see, the physical comedy is awesome

    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0089371/?ref_=ttmi_tt

The harder one is still my nomination for the best ever martial arts movie, it also features the genius Ching-Ying Lam but this time Sammo Hung did his best fight choreography work, it's The Prodigal Son (1981).

    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0085211/?ref_=nm_flmg_act_92

I guess the age and the genres made them way too obscure but they are hugely famous movies and way more memorable to me I guess heh

Congrats NQD, full points and it's over to you!

And I'm waiting for your input about Thulsa Doom... So far I'm leaning towards downgrading the attack to oranges and perhaps one more defense point.

I need to rewatch the later parts of the movie and see if he's still wearing a blade despite his change of philosophy - that would steer my thinking

Mind a quick google of images has him wearing a matching pair of swords (in a ridiculous rig for drawing, fighting or riding with them - so they and the heavy armour may have been for show) when he was on the steel hunt, but I can't see anything on him during the orgy scene or the orphans of doom scene at the end.

Whatever blade skills remained to him he can't cut with what he's left at home...

  15. 1 hour ago, Xaltotun said:

anyway Look at the steel sword... Could be an army card need?

Definately need that sword, it's the one Conan's father forged during the opening credits and that they took from his body, it's the one that failed Rexor at the mounds when he fought Conan.

Afterwards Conan hacks off Thulsa's head with the shard

Thock..        thok..     thok  thok  thokthok  thok...

  16. Looks right to me!

    Favor of the God's

    cost 1/1

effect: target character may add one skill dice for free when using a skill during this turn.

Maybe it adds to all the target's skill rolls till the next time Akiro moves or acts?

  17. 1 hour ago, Arthadan said:

@Stonewolf sorry, I skipped your first pot of today.

Regarding Akiro, yes weak characters count and they can change the outcome of a scenario... but all my players complaint about them! Most people would like to play Conan or Subotai and "get things done" instead of playing the helpless clumsy old man. That's why I rather have Akiro as a somewhat strong ally rather than a weak hero.

And of course you can help! Scenarios will need extensive playtesting, anything I write will need to be proofreaded by native speakers... the work is endless, but that which does not kill us makes us stronger.

    :ambidextre:

For Akiro there's merit in the strong ally vs weak character choice as you say, and he mustn't be a remotely competent warrior. Not belabouring the point (I hope anyway)

Anyone who loves the films would love him anyway - maybe though he's no hand to hand killer he does bring the favour of the gods (ok... it takes the  material form of rusty old bits and pieces of armour strung on a spear), what exciting but non-flashy option could this make for?  He didn't throw any spells that I saw

The warrior falls off his horse then,        "I kiiilled hiiiim............  with my speeeeear"

    "That's how we do it!"

Noone should be struck by lightning but even Thulsa Doom's accursed seeker shot boinged into a hastily flung out shield for some reason

To be honest as I write this and despite my love of the old git I'm seeing him more as a part of the Mounds setting than as a primary participant, and that spells ally. Look! I persuaded myself heh

If he's going to be an ally then maybe the favour of the gods was the reason few stood against many - all characters get a free reroll for almost everything?

That would do it !    and he'd still get the odd satisfying poke in with a spear I'm sure!

OOOH! I am a native speaker! I can do that!   Lived and worked in the States for years so I speak both kinds of english. And I can playtest plenty too

  18. Dear lord....

I wrote this and I mean it like the love of my firstborn son...

But then I thought of Cerebus.....

    "Only when game is scarce.."

This may get to be a serial habit, it may take years
