I'll make a first version of the document (I've compiled all the rules I suggested) and then you can tell me what extra ideas need to be added for discussion, and we'll take it from there.

Regarding organization, we can open different threads in the forum in the future, all starting with "Conan the Barbarian Campaign" to be easily identified (perhaps one per scenario?) . But until Christmas I think we can work on this one.

    Very good!

I'm going to work on an additional document about the map!

Maybe a third document could be written to describe tokens usage & miniatures ?

  2. @Arthadan, no problem to have only one person to update the document but I would like to see a place in the document for all ideas (to avoid to lose them) and not only for the ones of the scenario first version!

As I said,  Trello would be a tool to organize our thoughts when things are going to become more complex! Only one sequential post would become a big mess!

Maybe @SentMa could offer us an organisation to allow us to better organize the different Topics here in the future?

  3. Spoiler

I know we wrote this but I still a little frustrating! In fact,  in the movie the riders that are dismounted continue their fights on ground! Of course, as they were completely stuned or confused following their falls and wounds, and as Subotaï or Conan are very close of them, they attacked them and the dismounted riders die! Two things:

Shall we still to not consider all the dismounted riders ?

Shall we not introduce as in imperial assault some conditions tokens?

Moreover, It has been becoming very difficult to remember all the different rules we wrote since the beginning of the discussions for the Botm and even more with the map that has just arrived!

Maybe it's time to create a document we  could modify and access easily to check the consistency of the whole! If you are agree with it how to manage this? We would need a collaborative tool ? But don't know which tool...

Moreover for the project and the next steps  it would be interesting to use a specific tool to identify and share the different tasks that we should realized! If not I think It will become very difficult (different scenario remarks, rules discussions,  items to create...) Since the beginning of the week in my job we have beginning to use a tool that is very usefull and that is quite simple: trello! It works on smartphone, PC...

What are you thinking about the idea?

My point exactly! Nobody can stand on a palisade nor cross it.I think  its effect in game is the same as in real life, a defensive construction.

But sometimes in the movie some riders finished their runs on spikes !

    How to manage this?

I'm not sure about how to divide the "4 stones" top, maybe a further division could be the solution?

The risk is that the 4 monoliths on this mound are considered as purely scenic elements... some kind of background or pattern on the sand...

Maybe we can say that no characters are allowed to touch the stones! If it is not possible, new hero/horsemen or footmen can not enter the area

Stakes/palisades should be their own area and be impassable terrain.

I think about this and would like to create special rules for this !

In fact each time, a horsemen is dismounted in an area with spike it would be interesting if a test was realized to check that he is avoiding spikes or not.

  7. Hello guys,

In order to avoid that the overlord stand by his horsemen in some specific area,  I Wonder if a specific rule couldn't be created?

For example each turn, if a horseman stand by in an area, bonus to hit him is increased by 1 dice for the heroes !Thus, horsemen are going to be always on movement or they would take a risk!

This don't work for dismounted characters!

    Area 31/1 is perfect! :w00t:

I'd divide area 32: horses should move around the altar, so dividing it could represent this 'slowdown' of their run; splitting this area in 2 would also mean to add one more area and it'd be better in my opinion...

    Ok!:peur:

That works,  I will do this !:dwarf:

I was thinking about the tavern map: the bar is a separated area from the surrounding areas, so that's why I'd divide it. In the tavern the figures can go on the bar with an extra movement and have bonus for fighting from a higher level. I know that it's very difficult that someone can lead his figure/s over the altar, but projecting a scenario, I guess, means to try to preview the more possibilities you can.

The stone where Yasmina is tied is very big one and I think it's impossible to climb; but you can hide behind; someone could use it to cover from range attacks... yes I know, it's difficult, but it could be...

Maybe I could keep the ideas from:

    map_botm_area_number_V4.thumb.jpg.cd1b3f2e05b68693d066ba6adc371e77.jpg

So we could keep areas 1 & 31 + add a separation as you suggested in area 31 in two parts! (see below)

So original area 1 woould be divided in area 1,31 & 33 with capability to be hidden by tha Yasmina's stone ?

    map_botm_area_number_V4bis.thumb.jpg.fecde0be970a7b798a05aa8a3081a00d.jpg

For area 28, Altar is now 28 and surrouding area is the 32 ! What are you thinking of this ?

2 small suggestions for the map:

    - Area 8 should be forbidden to mounted figures (like monoliths rows)

    - I'd divide in two areas 1 and 28, and allow dismounted figures to 'jump' on the altar.

The altar and the stone where Yasmina is tied are stone that could hide from range attack; the altar could give highness bonus. I guess it could be better to do this to prevent from faqs...

    Image1.jpg

    I propose you this ?

Or do you prefer I divide the both area in two as you suggested it ?

    • Area 8 should be forbidden to horses: yes we can but Thulsa Doom seems to fire his snake arrow from the area 8 from his horse ? What should we do ?
    • Very good idea to separate in area 1 & 28, the altar area ! But I don't understand why divide them in 2, why not do a specific area for each altar in each existing area 1 & 28 ? So the altars area could be forbidden to horses but dismounted characters as you suggested could climb on it ?

Note: I think there are a lot of remarks and propriety could be identified on many areas of the map consequence of numerous map accessories: monoliths, spikes, lying stones , different bushes, different ground level, spikes group & grouping of crossed spikes ...

Note: I divided the map at the origin only in 28 areas because it was the number of areas I observed on the Picts village map (if I remember well). But if necessary I could add other divisions because of the biggest size of this map and for fun purpose too!:sorcerer:

    MAP

Perhaps zone 23 is a bit big. In our scenario we don't want riders to arrive too soon to the monolith field, plus would need many zones to place items and traps. If possible, I'd divide zone 23 in 3.

    STAND-UP

Thanks for printing! Do you think the size is right, or perhaps a bit bigger would be better?

The 23 area was divided in 3 ! Two new area appears: 29 & 30.

I've made a small improvement on the stand-ups, now both faces are symetrical, so the white background can be removed if desired.

    Very impressive job Arthadan !!!

Maybe for the "riders of doom" the size could be bigger consequence of the spear! If not the horses are smaller that the others and the oval basis too....

  15. I modified some elements and mainly I try to place the mount with the altar as far as possible on the map!

A lot of elements can be easily modified if necessary ! Areas could be updated easily, the small circles that indicate the line of sight of each area could be updated too!

Stairs were not placed because the map where the stairs appeared is not the one I realized! In fact, the map realized looks like the Mounds when Conan arrived in the area. The other one, is a place where the battle was filmed without stone floor and with sand only to avoid the stuntmen to be hurt...

Thulsa Doom 3D token is very impressive and even more beautiful than the conversion miniature!

  16. @Arthadan, oval are  6cm x 3.5 cm!

To my mind, it will be better if the riders would be in full papers with the same beautiful pictures used on the tiles!

I think, Riders miniatures should be 32mm high scale so it should be near 5.5 cm high from top helmet to the horse hoof!

@Xaltotun please wait before preparing the tiles for upload. If you take them directly from here, there is some quelity loss, as they are smaller than the actual size. I'll upload them to Dropbox and send you the link.

Also, I've asked @SentMa if it would be possible to create a specific folder to upload everythiing regarding our project in the Downloads/Resources section. I think it would be messy for potential players to have to hunt down every single file we upload, to collect them all in order to play. And the other option, uploading a single huge file, doesn't seem any better.

    MAP

@Florentin, how are you doing with the map? If you want, you can add the last touches (the newly discovered stairs) and then send it to me.

I'm still working on it !

Here are some pics I captured from the movie. Seems that the Altar Mound could be closer to Yasmina Hill, but I don't think that much.

Anyway, I hope these could help.

For the Temple Guards, they'll appear on foot in a guard role in many scenarios (I'll use them when Conan meets Valeria in Rexor's tower for example).

What about "Zealots"? After all they're fanatic warriors serving Doom's cult.

I do not know why but for me zealot is a name linked with the protoss in Starcraft!

    I know I have just found !!!

I think another name would be better...a name more linked with Conan world as I proposed!
