  1. @tet2brick Does this tile exist in the scenario editor? It came with my Stygia set, but I don't know if it is a misprint or if there really are some assassins who don't have reinforcement points.
  2. I thought about it, but one of the premises with this campaign is to only include items available at retail. It's tough, because the kickstarter had so much great stuff (not just characters & villains, but weapons and spells).
  3. Yes, I'm a member. Ken Meyri. By the way, I can't post a link to the The Trap on the editor page, because it doesn't currently accommodate 2 maps. I have to download 2 different scenarios and then edit the PDF files manually.
  4. Wow, you must roll better than me! On yellow dice I roll blanks 95% of the time (which usually sucks except for this scenario). As a matter of fact, I have play-tested this about 10 times and he has only lost a total of 3 health. That being said, it makes sense that he would take more damage for average dice rollers. However, I want the self damage to be part of balancing the scenario (and it is important thematically) - especially since the overlord has the advantage (with Atali). I am actually considering restricting the event tile to 1 activation per Overlord turn to keep the end game being so overwhelmingly in favor of the overlord. This would have the side affect of cutting down on Yogah's self-damage and force the overlord to soften Conan up with crossbowmen/guardsmen reinforcements. Of course, I have to make sure this doesn't swing the non-Atali version too far in favor of the heroes. FYI - I am also thinking about replacing the useless scorpions with assassins (the ones without reinforcement points) and re-positioning them so they aren't as easy to mow down in one turn.
  5. Looks like things are moving along! I am going to run The Trap through a few more tests tonight. Once I am confident it is halfway decent, I will switch gears and revisit The Streets of Khemi, which still needs to be updated with the campaign specific items (atali's possible presence, victory gems, Haddy's spellbook, etc.). What is our time frame looking like at this point?
  6. @Matt John S I think I am using the throwing daggers in The Trap, but I am still tweaking the scenario and don't know if they will make the final cut (or with which hero). I like where you are going with the item for Thoth. Thoth's movement is vital for the Overlord winning the Streets of Khemi scenario, and I am currently working on slowing his movement down. In which case, the item would be an awesome reward for a previous victory. (No worries, it still will not be enough to compensate for the tweaks I will be making so it won't break anything.)
  7. My initial tests had Conan dying too quickly if Atali survived, or if Conan used too many gems to killher and then get stuck in the courtyard. Now that I tied Yogah to the river instead of a full activation each turn, I might need to revisit that. This would result in splitting the party. I am curious to see how this plays out before deciding if it is broken or not.
  8. Thanks for play-testing! I can't wait to hear your thoughts. As for the stairways, I am concerned about how many rounds the heroes must travel to reach Conan, so I originally planned on 1. But now that you bring it up, 2 makes more sense logically, and I have balanced the upper level enough that it isn't as much of a race as previous versions. How have you been play-testing? With 2?
  9. Oh no! Sorry to hear about that. Your work on the scenario generator is REALLY appreciated, and I hate that some jerk is making it more difficult for you.
  10. Agreed. For gameplay reasons, I use the Dark Demon in 5b and the Outer Dark Demon in 5a.
  11. After spending the better part of Saturday on this, I decided having a hero played by the Overlord makes the game swingy. To avoid a Yogah vs. Conan grudge match, I tied Yogah's activations to event cards. I also added Mind Control as an acquirable spell, so Hadrathus can assist Conan even before he reaches the fort. I spent almost all of Sunday play-testing and revising this scenario, but I think I need a fresh set of eyes on this one. Take a look and let me know what you think. Notes: 1. The Overlord has to use a mix of red and blue gems. 2. Bonus gems from previous scenarios will have to use tokens rather than gems. 3. This picture is from the beginning of the day. It changed quite a bit. 5b - The Trap.pdf
  12. I tweaked the PDF a bit, but playtesting will have to wait until Saturday.
  13. I still need to revisit my previous scenario (The Streets of Khemi) based on the new variables (Atali, bonus gems, spellbook, etc.), but I worked out a rough draft of Scenario 5b. This has NOT been playtested and could be wildly out of balance, but I wanted to give everyone a feel for the direction I was going. The idea behind it is that Yogah of Yag is leading Stygian forces in conquest to Aquilonia. Conan has led a might force to stop them, but lost in a massive battle. Thinking he is the last survivor, he prepares to storm a fort held by the Stygian army in the hope to slay Thoth Amon and Yogah in one last desperate attempt. He doesn't know, however, that three of his most trusted allies also survived and are sneaking into the fort via the catacombs beneath it. Thoth knows of the their presence, however. He has filled the lowest level of the catacombs with scorpions and pet demon and the upper level with his best soldiers, all tasked with keeping Conan's allies at bay until Conan falls into Thoth Amon's trap. Here is what we have in the works so far: Scenario 1 - The Time for Flight is Nigh Scenario 2 - Fight or Flight Scenario 3 - The Fate of Yag-Kosha Scenario 4 - Unnamed Scenario 5a - The Streets of Khemi (if heroes win scenario 3) Scenario 5b - The Trap (if Overlord wins scenario 3) 5b The Trap.pdf
  14. Man, that sucks. I know how it feels. I've been burned in the past (not with the scenario editor) and now I am in the habit of saving after every few changes. I even occasionally download my WIP PDF so I have a local backup.
  15. As a Typhon backer, my vote would be for more Conan crossover as well. :)
  16. @tet2brick Rather than programming new code, would it help if the plank image were square with a transparent background? I could supply the image if that would help. Cool! Looking forward to it.
  17. @tet2brick 1.Any chance you can add the boarding plank from Stygia? 2. This suggestion is a little more complicated, but is there any way you can add the option to add a second map to a scenario (similar to the official scenario "Sacrificial Heroes")? Thanks!
  18. I am running into a gem shortage. Adding another hero (Yogah of Yag) requires 12 additional blue gems and 1 additional red gem. Since the game only comes with 50, that is not enough for the standard heroes (who use 41). To get around this, I plan to invert Yogah's gems, using red gems for energy and a blue gem to track stance. This still leaves me with 6 red gems for the overlord, and 5 blue gems unused. To compensate for this gem shortage, I am considering using those five blue gems as "double gems" for the Overlord. I'm just not sure how to implement the bonus gem idea for the Overlord if I am using those blue gems in this manner, however. I am trying to avoid using proxies. Thoughts? Blue Red Conan 11 1 Shentu 10 1 Ikhmet 10 1 Hadrathus 10 1 Spellbook 3 Bonus Gems (Hero) 3 Yogah of Yag 1 12 Overlord 6 Total Used 45 25 Total in Box 50 25
  19. @Matt John S Out of curiosity, how will this campaign be distributed? Downloadable PDF only, or printed and shipped like the Compendium?
  20. Here I go with another attempt at a confusing chart. Does this look right? If so, I like the idea. Scenario 1: 0 gems Scenario 2: Winner 2 gems | Loser 1 gem Scenario 3: Winner 2 gems (3 gems if 1 is carried over) | Loser 1 gem (2 gems if 1 is carried over) Scenario 4: Winner 2 gems (3 gems if 1 is carried over) | Loser 1 gem (2 gems if 1 is carried over) Scenario 5: Winner 2 gems (3 gems if 1 is carried over) | Loser 1 gem (2 gems if 1 is carried over)
  21. By the time he gets to the streets of Khemi, Thoth has transformed him into a flying demon to spy on Shuan Mian (?) as he pulls into port. Because those eastern sorcerers just can't be trusted, you know. And just in case Shuan Mian plans betrayal, Thoth gave the demon a magical artifact that will penetrate magical defenses. Oh yeah, and orders to grab the amulet shard from Shuan Mian if it sees the chance. (Of course, those betrayals are put on hold once the heroes show up, but I wanted back story for why the units are located where they are. ) I might keep him as the dark demon for the ruined fortress version, though.
  22. If it works for everyone, I still like the idea of the final battle being determined by the Yogah of Yag idol, even if it isn't the penultimate scenario. I envision if Thoth wins that scenario, he gets the idol and controls Yogah, who will lead his army north for conquest. Knowing that Conan is the only power that can stop his evil army, Thoth devises a trap to lure him with Atali, which he will spring on Conan at the Ruined Fortress. But first, Thoth Amon must capture Atali. This leads to the Nordheim scenario. If Thoth wins, I will include an optional bonus in the Ruined Fortress scenario that includes Atali. If the heroes win, the Overlord doesn't get the bonus. However, if the heroes win the Yogah of Yag scenario, then the Overlord has no one powerful enough to lead his evil army in conquest of the north. With his hopes of northern conquest dashed, he comes up with a new plan to summon the physical incarnation of set by making an alliance with an eastern sorcerer who has the other half of a shattered amulet. However, Thoth Amon knows Conan has foiled him in the past, and he is determine to be prepared this time. So before he invites the eastern sorcerer to the Streets of Khemi, he enters a dream world and tries to capture Atali. This leads to the Nordheim scenario. If Thoth wins, I will include an optional bonus in the Streets of Khemi scenario that includes Atali. If the heroes win, the Overlord doesn't get the bonus. In summary: 1. Victory Points only determine the level up. 2. Yogah Idol scenario determines the final battle. 3. Nordheim scenario determines whether Thoth gets an Atali buff in the final scenarios. Thoughts?
  23. I like it. It's simple and fairly balanced while keeping a sense of progression.
  24. @Matt John S I was trying to create a chart interpretation of your VP suggestion but with placeholder values. You are correct, though, that I didn't include level ups for losing. Rereading your original suggestion, I realize that I was making it more complicated with my chart. Is this what you originally had in mind? Overlord 4 VP | Heroes 0 (Overlord get A and B | Heroes get X or Y) Overlord 3 VP | Heroes 1 (Overlord get A and B | Heroes get X or Y) Overlord 2 VP | Heroes 2 (Overlord get A and B | Heroes get X and Y) Overlord 1 VP | Heroes 3 (Overlord get A or B | Heroes get X and Y) Overlord 0 VP | Heroes 4 (Overlord get A or B | Heroes get X and Y)
