  1. Our aim is to offer a free fan-made campaign based on the film Conan the Barbarian, including hero sheets, equipment cards, spells, enemy tiles, maps and any other material we deem necessary. However we are focusing on creating a single scenario first and take it from there.

As a fan project with no profits whatsoever involved, I understand it is fair use of the images. I will include a disclamer in the file with the hero sheets when I have all them ready and zipped for download.

Different versions of the characters can only be enriching for the community, so I think it's great to have them!

Edited: Regarding stats, is not sure as this point that we change them. They look spot on, but we'll know for sure when we're done playtesting.

@jpuglio has kindly created a PDF file you can find in the Download section with hero sheets for the main characters a tiles for the main villains. Thanks man!

With his permission, we will replace the illustrations and tweak the stats for this project. The Conan hero sheet is just a preview, before we adjust skills and stats.

  3. Short answer is no, scenarios are tailored for a specific group of heroes.

Long unofficial answer is you can change heroes for another of the same kind (i.e. changing Conan for other warrior), but you have to be careful with relevant skills for the scenario. And of course you may have some  balance issues.

Edited: Check out this post from another forum, it has pretty good guidelines:

I remember that in the movie Conan the Barbarian, Subotai spoke about "Agha" (in the french version) or a thing that sounded like this, when a merchant tryed to sell him Black Lotus! In the movie, it seemed to be a quite widespread poor effect poison that looked like to Black Lotus often sold in place of it by dishonest merchants! It could be interesting to use such low effect poison in game ?

I guess this "agha" would be some kind of narcotic with little use in combat.

  5. And one more, besides the regional supplements, a parallel line of expansions consisting of campaigns in the same box format, based on REH stories.

Who wouldn't get a Red Nails box?

Edited: Now that I think about it, I think they should release a "campaing box" for 3 player, other for 4 players and another for 5 players (heck, even a 2 players with solo mode would work). So no matter the size of your gaming group, you'll get one. And then, I'd inlude the adaptation of the campaing scenarios to be played as stand-alone ones.

  6. I think you cannot move from a water area to a platform (unless stated in the scenario). In some scenarios you can jump over the water, from platform to platform of you have the Jump skill, but that's it.

  7. A free reroll affects a single dice. Let's say you roll :orangerel::orangerel: And you are happy with the result of one dice but you want to reroll the other. After rerolling you still get a poor result and you want to reroll again. In this case you cannot use the free reroll of the other dice (even if it's the same color) to reroll a second time, you'll need to spend gems.

After the initial roll, including free rerolls if any, you can spend as many gems as you want to reroll dice ( heroes and Overlord alike).

Of course if you have rolled to attack and your opponent has rolled to defend, you can't spend any more gems to reroll your attack dice. You can do that only during your attack roll.

At least this is how I understand it.

  8. Some more things I'd like to see:

Scenarios for 8-9 players using two linked maps.

Edited: linking that with my previous suggestion of a forest map, what about a pictish expansion with more variety of warrior types (clan specific) a bosonian fortress map and a forest maps that you can put together either with the fortress or the pict village?

Scenarios using only warrior heroes. I usually get the complaint that only Conan can "make things happen" in the game, and the rest of the heroes are nothing but sidekicks with some useful skills. Maybe it's just my players, but some good old hack and slash scenarios  for a group of warrior heroes (with some clever plot, not just plain combat) would be most welcome.

  9. Both spells say "something like "choose an area (stone rain)  or a hero (Psychic strike) X areas away from you". That means the cost of the spell is equal to that distance.

Since the spell's cost and the extertion limit is the same, (X) I guess you can cast it only once per turn.

  10. Source: Stygia Expansion

Scenario tittle: The Fitfth Plague of Stygia

Rule name: Damage in burning areas

Description: When a  character moves into an area with a flame token (burning area, not  Overlord reinforcement in this scenario), that character rolls two red dice for burning damage. The hero can perform a Guard action using his Armour bonus and shield bonus, but no weapons guard bonus can be applied.

Adapting the rule to a general case

Damage suffered could be different depending on the intensity of the flames.

  11. Source: Stygia Expansion

Scenario tittle: The Fitfth Plague of Stygia

    Rule name: Jumping into water

Description: A character adjacent to a water area may move into that area with no movement penalty. when a character without Swiming moves into a water area, that character dies immediately.

Adapting the rule to a general case

    - A character without Swiming may not die if the water area is not deep enough for him to drown.

  12. Source: Stygia Expansion

    Scenario tittle: Defeat or Die

    Rule name: Body search

Description: Each time a hero kills a "searchable" enemy, that hero may perform a complex Manipulation with a diffivulty of 1, if succesful that hero draws a card from the assets deck. Then the enemy model is removed from the board wether the hero chooses to search it or not.

  13. Source: Stygia Expansion

    Scenario tittle: The Lost King

    Rule name: Poisoned

Description: Place a number of poison tokens equal to the amount of damage inflicted to hero, either on the Melee Attack action space or the Move action space of their hero's sheet. Each poison token on an action space reduces by 1 the exertion limit of that action. When both exertion limits are reduced to zero, theat hero immediately dies.

Note: Poison tokens are included in the Stygia Expansion.

  14. I'll start with the first one.

    Source: Core set (Barbarian)

Scenario tittle: In the Clutches of the Picts

    Rule name: Carrying an ally

    Description:

    - A Hero can pick up an unsconcious/willing ally usin a Simple Manipulation

    - The Hero and the ally must be in the same area

Adapting the rule to a general case

    - An unarmed princes has an encumbrance value of 6, the encumbrance value of another ally must be extrapolated from there. First extrapolated the base encumbrance (body weight) and then add his equipment.

    Example: Black Dragon

    - Base encumbrance: 9

    - Equipment: heavy armour, (3), he would lose his sword and shield if unconscious as any other character and his attack and defense should be modified in the scenario to reflect this.

    - Total:  12

An unwilling target (enemy) cannot be picked up, this would be some sort of attack not covered by this rule.

  15. Hi all,

My idea to compile in a single document all the special rules from the official scenarios which could have a general use, to use them as a reference for fan-made scenarios. For example, if there are official rules regarding how to carry an ally, you just look them up and use them in your scenario. This would make the game more streamlined  and save time for scenarists.

It's too much work for a single person, so let's make a collaborative effort if you like the idea.

    I proppose the following format:

    Source

Core set (Barbarian/King), expansion (Nordheim, Stygia, Kithai), Web scenario (only official ones published by Monolith)

Scenario tittle the game mechanic is taken from

    Rule name

It must be something descriptive such 'Darkness', 'carrying an ally', etc.

    Description

Adapting the rule to a general case

Your toughts on how to make a more general use of the rule, if needed.

I'll compile all of them and make them available for download in the Download section, and I'll maintain an index in this first post of the scenarios already revised.

    Revised Scenarios

    Core set (Barbarian)

    - In the Clutches of the Picts.

    Core set (King)

    None

    Nordheim Expansion

    None

    Kithai Expansion

    None

    Stygia Expansion (done)

    - The Lost King.

    Defeat or Die.

    The Fitfth Plague of Stygia.

  16. I think we need a Tower of the Elephant scenario (probably more than one), with Conan, Taurus and Yogah using the tower map from the Kithai expansion.

And probably this (from Reaper Bones 4 kickstarter, currently in progress):

I have to say Yogah is one of the few miniatures I don't like because he doesn't fit the description ("a head too big for his body", he has quite the opposite), but I like the alien look. Also, I have mixed feelings to have him as a hero, I can't picture him wandering the Hyborian kingdoms, but retreated in a temple.
