  1. Sure! Will do in the evening. I think the trample skill would work well for big monsters such dragons. It's the only skill we've made so far.
  2. In the case of minions, yes. In the case of bosses, either way is possible. They can fall on the stakes with their horses or being dismounted by the blow and then hit the stakes.
  3. In the current rules only bosses can be dismounted, this way any mounted mature (minions included) can get damage front pallisades/stakes.
  4. Absolutely! Glad you like them so much as to incorporate them in your own work.
  5. Rules for the map: STANDING MONOLITHS This huge stones block line of sight and block movement except for Flying characters. Moreover, Flying characters can end their movement perching atop one of them ( in this case they will get a yellow dice elevation bonus for their ranged attack versus enemies below). FALLEN MONOLITHS Any character can move on a fallen monolith by spending 1 extra movement point. This areas provide an elevation bonus of one yellow dice. Any character in a fallen monolith area may attack a character in an adjacent area with a Melee Attack. These areas do not block line of sight. A character may exit one of these areas with no movement penalty. PALLISADES/CHEVAUX DE FRISE Mounted miniatures cannot move in one of these areas, charaters on foot may move in one of these areas by spendinf 2 extra movement points. A character on foot may exit one of these areas with no movement penalty. If a Mounted miniature suffers damage in an area adyacent to a pallisade, the rider may fall on it. The attacker rolls one yellow dice, if he gets two symbols on the dice, means the defender takes damage from the pallisade (but remains in his original area), roll another yellow dice for damage. Lines of sight from the hills would need to be added as well, and think they should provide an elevation bonus. Thoughts?
  6. I have also a small request regarding the map, make zone 40 a bit bigger so a horse base would fit in. The idea is that riders can jump on the fallen monolith (17) and arrive to the main "corridor" of the monolith field. By the way, the ranged weapons PDF is uploaded (thanks again @Primeval!).
  7. Version 2.0.0

    128 downloads

Ranged attacks Optional Rules, for maps bigger than official size.
  8. The small areas used by characters on foot to hide following the special rules of the scenario must be between two standing monoliths (at least as the rule is now). That means we can get rid of areas 66 and 67, which will solve the problem in area 14.
  9. Getting back to rules, I posted this one a while back but got no feedback. I'm going to make the fancy the PDF, so I share it again: Ranged attacks Optional Rules These rules are recommended for maps bigger than the official size. Throwing Weapons Range Range for throwing weapons will be as many areas as the attack power obtained when using it (same as when throwing an ord but using the Ranged Combat skill). First check if the target is within range, if he is, resolve the attack as usual, otherwise place the card in the area between the attacker and the target as many areas away from the attacker as the power attack. Range for proyectile weapons (bows and such) is unlimited. Note: when determining range, the attacker own area does not count. Limited Ammunition for Proyectile weapons In some scenarios Heroe smay have a limited number of proyectiles for their ranged weapons such bows. Use the Arrow Token and the Tracker Sheet provided to keep track of the ammunition left for each hero. The starting ammunition will and rules for getting more (if any) will be provided in the scenario.
  10. I think we have very different professional backgrounds. I work as an IT Consultant and in my line of work I have to deliver solutions, against the clock most of the time. I'm used to "get things done" under a time constraint and I guess that it shows. Anyway, I think both approaches are compatible. We can have a "basic & simple" version as a working prototype, with the bare minimum essential elements as a starting point and then polish it to a final stage "(standard" scenario). Once it is made (or perhaps woking on paralell) the "expert" version can be made. I have assumed the role of team coordinator so far but I have no problem stepping aside if the rest of the team think it will be for the best best, and I also think @Xaltotun would do a great job.
  11. Picture of the whole map from above, as requested by @Florentin
  12. @Xaltotun I agree 100%! It's true that sometimes I may sound a bit bossy, I'm sorry about that. I think we are doing a great work as a team and our hard work is about to bear the first fruits with our first scenario. Of course anything can change during playtesting, nothing is set in stone at this stage. Let's make the best scenario we possibly can! Crom is looking at us from his Mountain and He is grimly smiling!
  13. Mounted Combat rules updated with @Primeval clarifications! Thanks man!
  14. It's a nice touch to offer alternate illustations, but I think we have it covered for now with you sheets. I'll make more for the campaign but for now I'll focus on the scenario. Our December deadline is too damn close!
  15. @Xaltotun @Florentin Here is my suggestion. - Pallisades (chevaux de frise) cannot be crossed by mounted or foot miniatures. - Between the pallisades we will have smaller zones (too small for a horse base) with stakes. Miniatures on foot can cross stakes zones at an increase movement cost. - Only "bosses" (Thorgrim, Rexor and Thulsa Doom) can dismount, I thiunk if they manage to capture Yasmina on foot and move through the stakess with the movement reduction for carrying Yasmina plus the movement reduction for crossing the stakes, they should be able to do so. Agreed on the last two: - as previously agreed, the only way to reach the top of the mound for a mounted figure is the back path (yellow arrow), as we see in the movie; You mean the top yellow arrow, I guess. - as we know Subotai and Akiro run to the top to protect Yasmina at the end, following probably the blue or the green arrows, so it makes sense to leave a tight path to reach the top of the mound running for any dismounted figure with no penalty movement. Yes, the lower yellow arrow should be a zone too small for cavalry to cross, with no stakes nor pallisades. Since Yasmina ha got the Protected skill, maybe we ca leave this as it is, what do you think?
  16. You are absolutely right, I should have shared the change for comments. Too many things at the same time, sorry! About pictures, I have the whole campaign in mind. I prefer to make people print a single sheet for each hero for the whole campaign, so I tried to chose images that work for most of the film (Subotai, Valeria) or are specially iconic (Conan). That said, I think your alternates sheets are a great idea for people wanting to play the scenario as a stand-alone or not minding to print more than one sheet per hero. Speaking about image composition, I think your sheets are good but if you want me to play around with any of them and see what I can came up with, I'll be happy to oblige. Now, back to Subotai's replaced skill: - The original one is (Untochable): When this character defends against a Ranged Attack, their armor value is increased by 1 for that defense. - The new skill is (Lock-picking). I think it makes more sense. What do you think? Also, I'm going to add in the Special Rules of the Scenario that Yasmina has (Protected )for this scenario.
  17. I plan to make a "Game Board Rules" PDF with the terrain-specific rules of our board, same as the game board rules we can find in the official OL book version 2. I'm just waiting to have the last version of the map.
  18. Some eye candy! These great board and conversions were made by Zach Hershberger of the club: Army Group York, Pennsylvania. Enjoy!
  19. Please check the last version of Subotai skills. He has "Protected" no more. Also, I think it would be good to put in the download name these are Alternate hero sheets, so people don't get confused when downloading.
  20. I've printed the map in 15 sheets (A4 size). In 5 "rows" of 3 and then stuck them together with tape. For a prototype version it will do. About the paper, I went to a printing shop. It is the thin cardboard they use for photograph but it is thicker than normal paper. I'll post more pics tomorrow. By the way, how are the last modifications on the map progressing ? I'll draw those myself on my prototype when they're done.
  21. Today it has been printing day! Feels good to have all these digital creations in physical form.
  22. We have limited arrows because our board is bigger than the official and projectiles are a bit overpowered in this case. That and to be true to the movie. Glad you like the intro! It was specially challenging since English is not my native language.
  23. This is the WIP version of the scenario. Comments are welcome! Fiery flames have consumed Valeria's body on her funeral pyre. Her loss weights heavily on a Cimmerian heart, but there is no time to honor the fallen. Thulsa Doom rides in wrath with all his might into battle, to punish those who have dared to steal from him. Conan and Subotai lay traps and Akiro fetch them ancient armors and weapons from the barrows, because the lingering spirits of the heroes of old are pleased with the bloodshed to come. Then the barbarian and the thief prepare themselves to face what could very well be their last battle. And for the first time in his life, the Cimmerian prays to his grim god: "Crom, I have never prayed to you before. I have no tongue for it. No one, not even you, will remember if we were good men or bad. Why we fought, or why we died. All that matters is that two stood against many. That's what's important! Valor pleases you, Crom... so grant me one request. Grant me revenge! And if you do not listen, then to hell with you! " WINNING THE GAME HEROES: The Heroes win if they prevent the Overlord victory conditions to happen or if they kill Thulsa Doom. OVERLORD: While Thorgrim and Rexor are alive, the Princess must be captured and taken outside the board by the zone with the token with number 2. If Thorgrim and Rexor are both dead, the Princess must be killed. HEROES The game starts with the heroes' turn. The heroes start in the areas indicated by the setup diagram. Suggestions for 2 heroes: * Conan (Atlantean Sword, Horned Helmet, Old Armor). * Subotai (Hyrkanian Sword, Hyrkanian Bow, Old Armor). * Akiro (ally with the spell Favor of the Gods). When activated, Akiro can move and attack or move and cast the spell. For this scenario, Conan and Subotai count as having the Leadership skill to activate Akiro. After setup, the Heroes do not move any gems from their Reserve zone to their Fatigue zone. Moreover, Conan recovers gem as if one hero has died because he is seeking revenge for Valeria’s death. OVERLORD The Overlord starts with 10 gems in their Reserve zone and 2 in their Fatigue zone, and places the recovery token showing a recovery value of “5” in the Book of Skelos. Event card effects: Reinforcement: (Until the end of Overlord turn 5) 4 reinforcement points. Spell of Doom: (From Overlord turn 6 until the end of the game) Thulsa Doom can cast his spell Set’s Arrow if he is still alive. He does not need to be activated, but the spell cost must be paid. This is the only way this spell can be used in this scenario. Charge: The Overlord chooses a tile that has not been activated this turn. All miniatures in that tile get one free movement action (with the all the movement points indicated in the tile). Battle orders: (only if the Standard of Set is in game). The Overlord may change the order of 2 tiles in the River. SPECIAL RULES Note: This scenario makes use of the Mounted Combat and Ranged Attacks Optional Rules. AMBUSH AMONG THE STANDING STONES If the last action a hero performs is a movement ending within the monolith field, adjacent to two monoliths: - The miniature is taken out of the board and replaced by two hero movement tokens showing an interrogation mark. - The hero player gets to move both tokens within the monolith fields ending their movement in an area adjacent to two monoliths, spending the same amount of movement points for each token and placing them with the side with the interrogation mark facing up. - The player choses secretly which one is the real hero (token with the hero face) and which one is a decoy (token with the red 'X'). - In the Overlord turn, when an enemy unit enters an area with a hero token, the token is removed (if it was the decoy) or replaced with the hero miniature (if it was the hero). ARROWS Subotai is so overloaded with his heavy armour that he has decided to place some arrows in strategic points instead of carrying them with him. - He has a limited numbers of arrows for his bow in this scenario, making use of the Projectiles Track sheet to keep record of the number. - Any arrow token taken by him will increase the arrow number by 5 (arrow tokens are placed by the heroes, along with some more items, see the following special rule, "the dead will help us"). HE WILL COME FOR ME Thulsa Doom himself will enter the battle in the next Overlord turn after Thorgrim and Rexor are both dead or after turn 6, whatever happens first. Place his tile at the end of the River and his miniature in the zone with the token with the number 1. Thulsa Doom will not enter the battle alone, a Black Guard from the green Black Guard tile will enter the battle with him (flip the tile if it is facing down). This warrior bears the Standard of Set. Place the Standard of Set token near this miniature. It will move along this miniature and it is removed from the game if this miniature dies. It is needed for the Event card effect “Battle Orders”. SPELL OF DOOM The only way Thulsa Doom can use his spell Set’s Arrow is described in the Event card effects. THE DEAD WILL HELP US The heroes have the opportunity to prepare the battlefield to their advantage. They will lay traps, hide weapons and other items and place decoys. Before the start of the game, they will place the item/trap/decoy tokens in any of the designated areas (maximum one token per area). The tokens will be placed with the monolith face facing up, but the heroes can secretly look at the other side at any time during the game. - When a hero enters an area containing a token, he can look it up secretly. If the token is an item, he can pick it up with a simple manipulation action. In this case remove the token and the hero receives the Equipment card, in any other case (trap or decoy token or item the hero does not pick up) the token remains unflipped. - The first time an Overlord character enters an area containing a token, flip it (it remains flipped for the rest of the game). If is a decoy, remove the token with no further consequences, if is a trap the unit will suffer the effects of the trap detailed in the Campaign Card corresponding to the trap type (pit trap or spike trap) and if it is an object the token remains flipped with no further effect (the Overlord units cannot pick items up). WARRIORS OF OLD Skeletons placed on the map as per the set-up map are the unanimated remains of warriors dead long ago. Their only effect in the game is to count for the exertion limit of the area where they are placed. YASMINA Princess Yasmina can be captured cutting the ropes that tie her (this count as a melee attack). Then, picking her up costs 2 movement points for any Overlord unit. Any unit carrying Yasmina will have its movement points reduced by 2. If the unit carrying Yasmina dies, she will be dropped on the floor and remains there. Yasmina uses the Princess tile to represent her in this scenario if she is attacked. She has 4 life points. Yasmina has (Protected )for this scenario, as the Heroes are bound to thwart Thulsa Doom's will.
  24. Look what I've found! Boris Woloszyn is making a Thorgrim miniature!
