  1. There will be another Kickstarter, with new locations and adventures, in 2019. There is a poll on this page to vote on the locations.

In the meantime, there is a lot of community activity going on, check out the downloads section to see.

Oh, and welcome to the community and the game!

This is so close to how it works in the campaign in the Modiphius book I wrote that it's kind of scary. So yes, I think it works ;) in mine the loser didn't get squat, though. As far as I remember...

If it works for everyone, I still like the idea of the final battle being determined by the Yogah of Yag idol, even if it isn't the penultimate scenario.

I envision if Thoth wins that scenario, he gets the idol and controls Yogah, who will lead his army north for conquest. Knowing that Conan is the only power that can stop his evil army, Thoth devises a trap to lure him with Atali, which he will spring on Conan at the Ruined Fortress. But first, Thoth Amon must capture Atali. This leads to the Nordheim scenario. If Thoth wins, I will include an optional bonus in the Ruined Fortress scenario that includes Atali. If the heroes win, the Overlord doesn't get the bonus.

However, if the heroes win the Yogah of Yag scenario, then the Overlord has no one powerful enough to lead his evil army in conquest of the north. With his hopes of northern conquest dashed, he comes up with a new plan to summon the physical incarnation of set by making an alliance with an eastern sorcerer who has the other half of a shattered amulet. However, Thoth Amon knows Conan has foiled him in the past, and he is determine to be prepared this time. So before he invites the eastern sorcerer to the Streets of Khemi, he enters a  dream world and tries to capture Atali. This leads to the Nordheim scenario. If Thoth wins, I will include an optional bonus in the Streets of Khemi scenario that includes Atali. If the heroes win, the Overlord doesn't get the bonus.

    In summary:

    1. Victory Points only determine the level up.

    2. Yogah Idol scenario determines the final battle.

    3. Nordheim scenario determines whether Thoth gets an Atali buff in the final scenarios.

    Thoughts?

Pretty much how I pictured it too.

@Ken If you are cool with the Scepter I'll take the Spell Book. So plan on this item being carried over.

    @all Sound good?

I have included it in mine after your post on how it works -  thanks!

Also, if you guys( @drmauric @Neil Amswych) know what gear you will be giving Ikhmet and Yogah let me know and I will equip them accordingly.

@Primeval, I might make it so that the Dark Demon's armor is reduced by one or something. Do they get the shards whether they win of lose? I'd rather reward them for doing well than just because.

As for a name, what about "Serpent from the South" or "Whispers From the South" or "Whispers from Stygia" ?

Shards only if they destroy the idol and win. My main reason for that is I thought I read someone was having the Dark Demon unharmable to start.

I like the name ideas - they feel closer than mine, will work on it with these in mind!

    Gravitas?

Much better!  The creative juices are flowing better now, although I just named a special rule "Servants of the Black Ring, Unshrouded" and feel like that is the name of a Cradle of Filth song lol

  7. Once again reminded how great this site is and how appreciative I am of your work on it!

I am working on a scenario for our community generated campaign and was trying to add a re-rollable yellow die to a special rules section - is it possible to get the re-rollable dice added to the scenario editor or am I missing how to do this?

    Thanks again!

    @Neil Amswych @Primeval @drmauric

Hey fellas, I'm looking to start testing my scenario tomorrow night. In short, it's a dream/lotus/extra planer sequence that involves Thoth trying to capture Atali. He believes her magic will still have some dim effect on the King and plans on using her to distract or bewlider him. If the Overlord wins, Thoth will get some kind of boost or Bonus (maybe even the weight of the years spell from Nordheim or a one time use of Atali's tile). Perhaps it will factor into the final sceanrio B in Aquilonia. Actually that might be perfect (I'm thinking as I'm I'm typing) if Thoth wins the Nordheim scenario, it means you play final sceanrio B and we write her into that scenario. She lures Conan from his palace, away from Zenobia even...i think rather than it depending on victory points, since they decide your level up, we have the result of this second last scenario decide which final scenario you play. Sound good? ...ill think about that and have a conversation with @Ken. Anyways...

The point of this post is to ask that you guys writing scenarios before Nordheim to let me know of any progression elements I should be using. One is Dan's spellbook idea for Hadrathus. Are there other items and can you give me a rough idea of what they Do? I'll fit them in.

From mine, right before yours, nothing really special will carry into yours - the idol will effect the final battle, unless you want there to be some kind of parting bonus Yogah gives for your scenario if the heroes win. the fragments of the idol will be also there if the heroes win, which can harm the Dark Demon - i was thinking they would be forged into the heroe's existing weapons somehow, or added into hilts, something that could take place while your scenario is going on, unless you are using the Dark Demon, then perhaps the shards are usable in yours. if so you can feel free to figure out how they work  in terms of narrative and the harming the demon.

    Monday for the email. ;)
    One copy per person.

    An important note:

We have printed 3000 booklets, we do not know if there will be enough for everyone .... therefore, everyone can reserve a copy and if it is missing, we will make a second wave quickly.

Will those of us already registered be in the first wave? I guess as long as we get it its not that big of a deal, but thought I would ask.

Which spells were in the King Pledge (and are therefore permissible) and which were KS add-ons (and therefore aren't)?

That is a good question - I planned to just use whatever my predecessors did for the most part but hadn't considered this.

  11. Just got back here to catch up - looks like the progression/campaign mechanics are well in hand; I will offer any input I can but frankly you guys are more experienced with this kind of thing.

Working on the scenario - going to throw an Outer Dark Demon in there, it will be how the Idol is transported to Thoth if the Overlord wins.

  12. Working on mine - first draft of the intro text that explains the scenario, I think this makes it more clear than my previous ramblings.

"Having fled Khitai, the heroes are heading west, informed by Yogah that in days past, via foul rituals he is loathe to recall, Yara constructed (as a failsafe should his control over Yogah wane) an idol in Yogah's likeness and of his essence that can be used to control him. He thought the idol long lost but has sensed it exists still. Thoth-Amon knows of this too, and wants the idol to compel Yogah to either reveal unto him arcane secrets or to actually fight for him - perhaps both.

The idol must be found and destroyed, by Yogah. Doing so will send him back to the realm he has come from to aid Hadrathus, but will allow him to offer aid of his own free will before he goes. Should Thoth-Amon get the idol.... Yogah will once more find himself in sorcerous shackles and aiding a vile practicioner of the dark arts.

The idol, when destroyed, will also yield fragments that can be used to forge a weapon to harm the Dark Demon that is in thrall to Thoth-Amon.

Knowing all this, Hadrathus, Yogah, Ikhmet and Shentu prepare to enter a ruined fortress near the eastern shores of the Vilayet Sea. It was once a Turanian outpost, but is now named accursed - overtaken and befouled by Yara and his minions in years past, feared by any who even know of its existence and the tales of those who have dared try to explore it. Here, Yogah has divined, may be found the idol."

Also, are the hero cards for our group of heroes online and available? I know the tiles for everything are on the editor so that is a huge help.

I will have heroes equipped as they were in the first 2 scenarios; if there is some kind of carryover or bonus let me know.

  13. This looks good Matt - I will start working on mine soon.

I suggest for now we focus solely on and get this "main scenario" framework done, and only then look at side/optional scenarios and fitting them into the existing framework.

Yeah I’ve been thinking about chests, and not just because I’ve been painting Belit all evening. 😉

Something about raiding one of Thot’s ship and trying to discard his chests overboard because whatever is inside must be lost at sea never to be found. But they can’t just chuck everything overboard because there’s valuable stuff inside a couple of chests as well. So instead of a hack and slash, it’s an effort to stay alive while raiding chests.

Of course the temptation would be to

kill everyone on the ship and then just chuck things overboard so I’d have to work out a way to discourage that.

Sounds good - do your thing with that idea, I will pitch mine as the 3rd scenario between yours as the 2nd and then possible 4th - just be aware that if mine is accepted Yogah will probably be gone and will need replacing before Matt has Niord join in.

It sounds like we have a solid set up for the first 5 scenarios and the finale, or perhaps the finale is #6, but it seems there would be room for one more between Nordheim and Stygia for the finale. Of course Matt will have the final say on that, just observing what we have so far

  15. 59 minutes ago, Ken said:

I have the beginnings of an idea for the alternate final scenario (Ruined Fortress) and wanted to run it by you all. I recall someone suggesting an idea about a scenario where Thoth Amon is trying to gather an idol to either resurrect or take control of Yogah of Yag. If a scenario like that is written and the heroes lose, Yogah of Yag would end up working for Thoth Amon.

    Here's my idea:

Thoth Amon now controls a corrupted Yogah of Yag, who leads the Stygian armies north. This army has won major battles in both Shem and Argos, swelling its ranks with both living mercenaries and the dead, and now threatens the southern border of Aquilonia. Conan gathers his forces and marches south to meet on overwhelming force. He knows the true Yogah of Yag would rather die than cause such evil destruction, and sets out with an elite team to infiltrate the ruined fortress where the evil army is camped with one goal: to kill Yogah.

Here is the twist: the Overlord plays Yogah (with the character sheet) in addition to the standard two tiles per round. This should make it especially difficult for the heroes (which I always love to do :) ), but also rather epic.

I don't have the scenario mapped out yet (I am waiting to see what the group things of the framework first)  but it would be cool to have a dual purpose event tile, where activating the tile helps the Overlord, but each use of the tile also allows Yogah to fight back just a little against the possession, perhaps by inflicting a wound on himself, thus aiding the heroes.

    Thoughts?

My scenario is about the idol and control of Yogah.  If the heroes win Yogah destroys the idol and he offers some boon to the heroes. If Thoth wins then he can compel Yogah to obey. I also put forth the idea that this would enrage Conan so much that we would get some kind of bonus for that final battle. I like your idea for the scenario above! Your other could be the one if the heroes succeed and the idol is destroyed maybe?

  16. @Neil Amswych- are you working on a sea scenario? We can shift mine to being at sea- the idol could be crossing  the Vilayet and the heroes catch up to the ship to stop it. Same victory outcomes and is one less travelling scenario, this would go after yours in the third slot, with Matt's to follow. Or we can just put your sea scenario after mine in the 4th slot, depending on how many scenarios we want.
