@Arthadan ! What about the activation at the same time of the same unit family (mounted & dismounted) and for only the cost of the mounted tile. This idea was presented in the french forum.
For example in the river, only the mounted tiles of the red Fangs is used (normally they are 5 activated) but as there are 2 that were dismounted the tile of dismounted warriors is present near the river (but not on the river). Thus, when the overlord activated the red Fangs riders both the tiles are activated for only the mounted Fangs tile cost
If not Overlord will have to pay twice for characters that belong at the beginning of the game at the same group...risk to upset the balance of the game!
What are you thinking of this ?

@Arthadan I agree with you: Thulsa Doom would have to have the best equipment but only play test will help us to evaluate if this is too much or not and if game is enough balanced between players ! In fact, Thulsa Doom in this condition is very powerful and even more on a small map as it is at present... A little frightened that Conan & his friends return to earth too soon as the doom's children recommended Conan to do! We will see !

Thank you for your post about the "Fangs of the snake"! For me, It could be the next step of our aventures because it was one of the best event in the movie...Even if the whole scenes of the movie are "The Best " or "good" !

A big avantage of a bigger map would be to put the 14 riders at the same time on it!
In a such case, I hope the heroes will be lucky with their dices rolls to get rid of the enemies before to be flooded by them! 😜

Sure, but a horse shouldn't be so useful in such a battlefield, that's why I guess they could have chosen this terrain and fortified it in Milius film.
But maybe a use on a short distance for an heroïc action could be fun : jumping on a horse, gallop on few meters, chop off, from his horse, some doom's soldiers heads before jumping on a Thorgrim on foot ! 😜

In fact, I have fun to do some conversion of riders for the battle of the mounds!
At the same time, @Arthadan that is a real fan would like to create his own miniatures to play with the right character and would like to offer to the fan to print by themselves their own ones! (I hope he will succeed ! )
But both solutions are quite long and expensive ...
So to avoid that all the community of the "Conan the Barbarian" fans become completely broke and wait too much time, we decided last evening to do our best at short term to allow everyone to play with the basic material of the core box! And in the future we will improve the miniatures to be used for the "Conan the Barbarian" adventures by 3D printable miniatures (or conversion...but be quiet @Arthadan does not like to hear this ! ) !
So as you asked and thought maybe this token (or an adapted one) could be used to represent mounted warriors with some miniatures from the core box in the next few days !

@Arthadan I put there the rules you propose in an other post about the management of mounts in the game !
A big post proposed rules about this on the french forum but the Arthadan synthesis seems good enough for our goal: playing to the battle of the mounds !
Some Ideas were proposed here (but in french) !
Mounted Warriors
Units
They have two tiles: Mounted tile (more movement and better melee attack) and Infantry (normal). They must be of different color as they represent different profiles. While mounted they belong to the Mounted tile.
If when Mounted they suffer the loss of 2+ life points, they are killed
If when Mounted they suffer the loss of 1 life point, they are Dismounted (see below) and they change the color of their base (they 'swap' units belonging now to the Infantry tile).
Lieutenants
They also have two tiles. one Mounted and one on Foot.
They are Dismounted when they suffer at least the loss of 2 life points in a single melee attack.
Dismounted: When character that has been Dismounted as a consequence of an attack, place the miniature liying down on the board. This has the following consequences:
- The character cannot attack
- The character can defend normally
- Any melee attack against the character has an elevation bonus dice
- The character will need to spend 1 movement point to stand up.
- Once dismounted cannot mount again (the horse is assumed to run away)
Note: below some concept cards that could be adapted for our need and that can be used for inspiration !
Cheval (in french) = horse
Destrier (in french) = steed
REXOR (in french) = Rexor
Surplomb (in french) = overhang

For pleasure, I have found on a new book from the 80's, I received at noon some rare documents! Look what did look like the mounds at the early beginning of the projects in John Milius ' mind!

All is possible! Just need a hudge amont of additional work! As the actual map took me many months to be created so do not know how much time a double size new one would require ?
To change monoliths size and suppress others, will be for me, frustrating because monoliths number is near the right number of the ones of the movie... Furthermore, quality of actual monoliths would not be compatible with an increasing of the size: need to find new ones but don't know where?
Besides, the problem is to have an efficient tool to generate the map background with the mounds! Star craft II editor was easy to use but quality of picture is too poor(desert floor and mounds)! Maybe the "unreal engine" would be great but I'm totaly noob with this software ...
Moreover, at this step of the project, I think small updates at short term could be considered but too hudge should be postponed.
As I told to @Arthadan yesterday evening my purpose is to have a first playable version of the game very soon to test game mecanismes and to begin to have fun! Thus, maybe other people would join the aventure and could help us with software graphical designer skills ?
Then we could work on an improvement phase faster than we could do now!

I have been working on this with @Arthadan for many months, now I can share it with you even if it is not fully finished!
It is enough to allow us to write the specific rules by beginning to launch soon "home playtests" !

Map for Battle of the Mounds
Hi guys,
Find in attachement all you need to print and modify the Map for the "battle of the Mounds" of the movie "Conan the Barbarian".
This Map will help you to live days of high adventures !
I give you the Gimp files to allow you to improve it as the map is not as good as I would like (I'm not computer graphics designer) !
In fact, The background was realized with the StarCraft II editor...and the result is not as good as I would like for printing.
Moreover the standing stones pictures are blurred and even some trees....But do not know how to do better at this step!
I met difficulties to find "standing stones" views from above !
At this step of the project no different areas were defined ! I will work on it soon !
Hope this will help you to propose new rules by playing to "Conan the Barbarian" with this first map attempt !!!
Do not hesitate to improve it and to share it with the Conan's movies fan community !

Be careful to not enlarge the map if we do not want to change the place of the battle! In fact in the movie the battle of the mounds occured in a very small area ! The map that I realized respects this to meter-scale tolerance !
If you would like to enlarge the area maybe new spots should be added as the Akiro hut and maybe other mounds and pits...maybe the sea too ?
