  1. If you're talking about the fan-made compendium that the French-speaking community printed some time ago (and which is completely unrelated with the Book of Set Compendium, which is made by Monolith), you should fine an answer in English here.

Besides, the scenarii of this compendium are currently translated into English or proofread. Some of them are already downloadable on this forum:

    - Vaniria is in the Fort

    - Thak the Simian

    - A Heart to be Taken

    - The Red Night

    - The Sepulcher

    - The Most Barbarous Game

    - Camel Madness

    - Rescue at the Top

    - The King's Wolves

    - The Abomination of the Black River (Campaign)

The other scenarii should appear there in due time. ;)

  2. This afternoon, my brother and his girlfriend called at our home, and we played the second scenario: The Rescue of Sir Ragnar.

It was a tensed (but enjoyable) game, as the heroes still don't have any equipment. As the Barbarian, I was badly wounded by goblins (!) and had only one remaining hit point at the end of the game. The many random encounters when looking for treasures were quite a problem too. My son, playing the elf, spent a nice afternoon too, even though he's still too afraid to get wounded to be a reliable partner.

After the game, we all take brushes and started painting. Now working on the remaining Chaos Warriors and the Fimirs.

  3. News from the second KS of Conan:

The scenarii compendium will be called The Book of Set and this is its cover:

    62c18540c83b2bf59da01f96b9451a61_origina19990202_10155457449113164_9035896617299

And, in addition to the all-in and the King's Pledge, a small number of bundles containing the KS exclusive add-ons should be released (id est - unless I'm mistaken - bundles with the Giant Wolves, the Vanir Valkyrie, the Campaign book, the Sabretooth Tiger, Baal-Pteor, the Black Dragons and the Demon of the earth).

  4. I'll play at this scenario tonight.

If anyone wants to play it with the Giant Snake miniature, here is an alternate tile for the Megalania:

NB: In the setup of the scenario, it is recommanded to use Savage Belit with a short sword. This equipment card isn't part of the King Pledge or the Core Box. It comes from the Brom box. ;)

  5. Yesterday, I bought Kingdomino, in order to play at it with my son and my parents during the holidays.

    IMG_1640-1024x768.jpg

It's a simple game of domino, in which up to four players use tiles in order to build the kingdom with the most points. Points are acquired by assembling fields, forests, mines, pastures, marshes or lakes. But these regions have only a value if there is a building on it (for instance an inn, a sorceror hut, a woodmen camp, and so on).

kingdomino-matos-300x245.jpg On this example, each square of pastures value 3 points (an inn with 2 crowns + an inn with 1 crown) but the fields don't bring any points.

The order of play changes when you choose the tile you'll get on the next turn, which is nice, as one may have to choose between getting a good tile or being the first to pick a tile on the following turn.

It's a simple system and yet a very enjoyable game, with a cute design. A game is quite short (approximately half an hour).

  6. Well, feeling a bit lonely on this thread.

Anyway, I've seen Vertigo (1958) years ago, but I didn't remember this special effect. For the easy one, I haven't got a clue, but I'll try, out of the blue, a famous movie in which there is a monster POV and where a scorpion tatoo could be legit. I'd say Predator (1987), but I think I'm mistaken.

    Crom on!

    Spoiler

As a French-Speaker, to adapt a song in English is quite difficult. To my ears, it doesn't sound too bad, but... who knows!

If you want to share a laugh by making a famous song sounding more Hyborian, this is the place for such stylistic exercise! :w00t:

  8. Yesterday, at a friend's house, I played at two games for the first time.

We started with Ascension - Rise of Vigil, a competitive deck-building game, in which you have to acquire Honor Points by destroying monsters and recruiting heroes. You have three resources to gather at each turn: Energy, Battle Point and Mana (or sort of, not sure this was the actual name of it). You use Energy to activate special powers of your artifacts or your heroes, Mana in order to acquire new heroes and artifacts, and Battle Point to defeat monsters (obviously).

It's quite a nice card game, with good-looking artworks, (although not for everyone's taste).

After that, we played at The Big Book of Madness, a cooperative game in which you play dumb teenage magic apprentice who just opened a grimoire that should have stayed close (well, you now teenagers). That evil tome starts to summon monsters that you must destroy during the invocation by removing curses without turning mad. Each apprentice belong to a House: Fire House, Air House, Water House and Earth House (just like in some presocratic Hogwarts). During your turn, you must gather enough magic points of the Four Elements to remove curses, cast spells, support the other apprentice with your magic points or improve your deck. Despite a rather childish look, it is a good cooperative game, quite strategic.

I had much fun yesterday evening playing these two games, and found the second one slightly better.

  9. Hi there!

On the French Community forum, Blackrad pointed out that there will be another (very short) kickstarter for Conan, by Monolith. This could be a way to grab some Kickstarter Exclusive Content if you did (as I) miss the first KS.

Here is a link with all informations.

    Quote

In early September, Monolith will be offering a new Kickstarter campaign for a brand new Conan Compendium. This Compendium will be a sleek, beautiful, hard cover and fully illustrated tome, similar to the Conan Campaign Book. It will include 20 scenarios (which will be avalable for free on Monolith’s web site) and plenty of character and creature lore.

Note that this will be a five days campaign and that there will be no stretch goals, although some King Pledges and All-In will be available.

And (last but not least), Monolith says that

    Quote

We are aiming to start the next Conan campaign in early 2019 which will include the new 2 player Vs system and an exploration into other Hyborian Age territories…

    :w00t:

Not that this kickstarter is something completely different of the two tomes of fanmade compendiums edited by the Overlord Community (one currently distributed, and the second one being written by the community while you are reading these very lines).

    - The first to give a good answer can post two other screenshots, with the same rules. If they recognizes the 'easy' movie, they scores 1 point; if they recognizes the 'difficult' movie, they scores 3 points; if they recognizes both movies, they scores 5 points. Please wait for the previous player to validate your answer before posting your screenshots (you could be mistaken).

Sorry: maybe that rule wasn't clear: the round stops with the first good answer, regardless of the number of movies found.

  11. For the easy one: City Lights?

    Spoiler

Just kidding. I'm quite sure I have seen this.. but I can't remember in which movie...

Let's see... A city in the night... An eye watching it. Doesn't seem to be one of the Batman movies... So I'd say:

Bringing out the dead? by Scorsese? (Not sure about that at all.)

No idea for the hard one so far.

  12. Nope and nope (but I can see why you thought it was Pan's Labyrinth, it was a nice try. :) ).

    A clue for each movie:

Easy movie: that picture comes from the prologue of the movie. Once grown up, the character on the right is played by Arnold Schwartzenegger.

Difficult movie: it's an horror movie starring Tim Robbins.
