  1. @garbetsp: i did not go about it in nearly as scientific a method as you did, but, I did begin painting all my Conan minis grouped in specific clusters in order to unlock scenarios. I started with the core game heroes, Picts, Hyenas, giant snake, and Zogar in order to get the first scenario on the table, and then I just went about picking a scenario that looked interesting and painting what I’d need. I went all in on everything during the KS, so I’ve been pretty damn busy with all Conan all the time (kinda looking forward to painting something from a different genre eventually, like when my Nemesis game arrives). Too late for me to follow your awesome Conan data now, as I have painted everything except the 3 big box Expansions. I’m working on those now, and I have more than half of Nordheim painted. I think I’ll get on with Stygia next and then tackle Khitai. Oh yeah, and the MB Corinthia will figure in there somewhere too...
  2. I’d be down with that. I’ve got Cthulhu Wars painted, as well as a ton of Zombicide stuff... Other than that, I’ve just been painting Conan, Conan, and more Conan... Eventually I’ll get going on Mythic Battles: Pantheon, and when it arrives, Nemesis. I wish there was a bigger community here on the English version of The Overlord, but it would be cool to share non-Monolith painted minis with everyone.
  3. Well. Found the Cap. Just a work-in-progress shot. One of the first minis from Conan that I painted... always learning. I figure I’m getting better since I see things I’d do differently on this one.
  4. Nice work @garbetsp! Color, shading, base, you nailed it. I know I have an old pic of mine, probably a work in progress pic. I’ll look for it.
  5. The Picts for this game are nicely sculpted, but are overall too cartoonish for my tastes. They don’t look like a regular human race at all. It’s really the only complaint I have about the minis for this game: their varying scale and style. Most of the minis seem to based on normal, humanoid physiology. But some of them, like the Picts and Baal Pteor, are very stylized and exaggerated. The Picts have the look of unrealistic, comic book Neanderthals. Not at all what I see in my mind’s eye when reading Beyond the Black River. Still, they look good enough on the game table for sure. 🙂
  6. Nice work! Love his bright red bum. Either he’s related to Mandrill apes, or else he sat on a hot stove (which would explain why he’s screaming?)...
  7. Cromdammit, you are painting at a whole other level than I am @Walrusboy77!... Great work.
  8. For a time at least, Asmodee (the game distributor) was providing printed copies of the updated v2 rules to people who bought the game in retail, depending on where you purchased it. These are not hardcover books, they have a paper cover just like the original Hero and Overlord rulebooks you already have. The v2 rules have updated clarifications for skills on the back page that compliment, but do not replace, the skill cards you already have. Try reaching out to Asmodee, but if that fails, you can download digital PDFs of the updated rulebooks, as well as new scenarios, at Monolith’s Conan website: http://www.monolithedition.com/conan-en/rulebooks/ Welcome to the clan Barbarian brother!
  9. Great work! I agree entirely, one of my favorite minis in the game even if not 100% exactly what I picture from the original text. Yours turned out great, and the eyes and armor details are really well done. Huzzah!
  10. Super helpful, thanks! Now that I have everything in my King pledge painted, we will be trying out the campaign soon...
  11. Awesome work! Conan needed it’s own equivalent to Zombicide’s Canned Food and Bags of Rice. 😆
  12. Got Natohk to the table this week... Squared off with Conan for an epic conclusion.
  13. They look great @Xaltotun! Nice work. Truth be told, these minis and their game art don’t exactly depict (!) the Picts as they are described in the stories, so I think any color scheme works fine.
  14. Me! Lol. I have a couple old pics here of my camo-Conan. I went back and did some retouching afterwards...
  15. True enough! But also, unless the art can be found printed larger in the game manuals, or the campaign/art books, it can honestly be rather hard to see what’s going on from just the game-tiles. Yet, somehow, I still never noticed any hint of blue on the Mummies until I saw other painted minis, even though it’s clear as can be on the cover of the Devil in Iron campaign book!... Cognitive bias indeed. So, what’s your plan for painting your version of the Black Dragons? They might look even more badass without naked knees! 😈🐉
  16. Thanks NQD, I can’t say I was inspired to go off script with the fleshy knees, elbows, and necks. As usual I was just trying to follow what the game art looks like. I can’t really tell from the game-tile, but it looked like skin to me. I suppose it’s hot wearing black armor in the hot Aquilonian summer... 🤪
  17. These guys clearly have Conan’s back, so he can focus on more important things - like wine and wenching...
  18. Looks good @Not Quite Dead! I guess there is the exact reason that I tend not to paint the eyes. I generally get a ‘cross-eyed cartoon’ look myself. Lol. Again, nice work!
  19. @hiruma Apparently there will be a 2nd printing run to accommodate everyone who wants a copy...
  20. Nice minis. Better than a cardboard token by a long shot. I did get the Corinthia expansion which has some nice looking villagers, except... well, the scale is a bit off. They practically tower over some of the Conan figures. Lol. Mixed up scale between some models is one of the only downsides with the Conan miniatures.
  21. Well, here he is... One of the best bad guys from the original stories. I tried to get a ‘textured’ look for his skirt, not totally happy with the result. He’s good enough for my game table though
  22. Done with the alternate Mummy poses... I tried out some different skin tones. Again, not art, but good enough for enhancing the game!
  23. Received my copy yesterday in the Midwestern US. Great stuff! Some innovative and fun looking scenarios. After my initial read through I can say that it seems these scenarios have been well written and edited, with possibly fewer ambiguities than many of the ‘official’ scenarios.
  24. Nice effect @Not Quite Dead! I think it looks good. You can perhaps use a toothpick to dip in the blood and add some small selective dabs to her face?
  25. I used an old toothbrush, dipped it lightly into a tub of Citadel’s Blood for the Blood God, and carefully flicked the bristles at her. I’ve done it with a few other minis as well, makes a great looking splatter effect.
