  1. Here they are, matching colors and all. .... Hmm, maybe I will enhance the shields at some point...
  2. Wow! Just saw these, great work! I love the shields, I really wish I’d done something similar. Gives them some individuality and visual interest. I painted all of mine the same, like a regular army - but thematically it would be better to give them unique qualities as you did... 👍
  3. I painted the last of my Belit minis in my latest efforts... Haven’t touched the 3 big box Expansions, but getting very close to having finished everything from the core, all the add-ons, and all stretch goals... so... close...
  4. Thanks! I’ve shown a fair bit of it here on the OL already, but maybe I’ll take a group pic of everything when I’m done. And, to clarify, I’m not nearly done yet, I still have the Expansions to do! 🤔
  5. I don’t have a finished photo handy, but here’s my effort from before I painted the base black and added sealer varnish. He’s kicking it with Olgerd...
  6. Just painted the last of the many Conan miniatures. Pictured here with a few other recent efforts. Just gotta blast these warriors with a bit of Dulcote and they will be ready for battle... Getting very close to having the Core game, and all stretch goals / add-ons fully painted!
  7. Good stuff! Shredder getting into the battle too?
  8. I think you are probably right-on with this speculation. For my part, I think we are pretty close to having Conan minis in all of his career phases, but not quite there yet. We still need young Conan as a penniless thief (cloth loincloth and sandals, NOT fur bikini), Conan as a corsair (full-on buccaneer pirate gear), and Conan as a desert raider (think Lawrence of Arabia)...
  9. Whether we are talking about Conan, or Greek mythology, naked PEOPLE are going to be a factor. There are many, many examples of idealized male AND female (near) nudity in both games. It always strikes me as odd that some people are so upset by any hint of sexuality in games, yet are just fine with pretending to violently kill one another in those same games. And yes, the complaints generally come from America. As an American, I see it as a function of my nation’s overtly puritanical history. We celebrate violence and then condemn sex and nudity in all aspects of our culture. 3 hours of bone-crushing football? Yayyyy! One quick glimpse of a female nipple? Booooo!.... For my part, I definitely prefer the European take on human sexuality. It is something to be celebrated IMO.
  10. @garbetsp: As OL I’ve won by pretty much ignoring the Hyenas and Pict Hunters. If you can get the Snake, Zogar, and the Princess into one hut, the Snake works for Blocking against the heroes, as well as being an effective defense for Zogar - as heroes must kill the Snake before moving on to Zogar since he has the Protected skill. Hadrathus cannot simply teleport in and grab the princess as his spellcasting ability goes away if he picks up the princess, as does Shevates’ Evade. I also work to get the Pict Warriors into position near the exits, since they too have Blocking. As with many of the scenarios, the OL often has to think defensively to win.

    I can't stop!

Agreed on the Winged Ape @Footballzs. It’s a great sculpt, but not as supernatural and ghastly as I imagine from the text. I’d think that the dragon mini from Conan would work for Hydra? But perhaps you didn’t get that one? It’s also a far cry from the description in Red Nails, well sculpted but a silly design IMO. Medusa is a tougher proxy... hmm... Maybe the Forest Demon could work? Or else Akivasha I guess?

Thanks for the description @Footballzs! They all sound interesting. I’m somewhat surprised however, since it appears from your description that someone would need Mythic Battles components to play any of the scenarios. From the description of the Corinthia expansion during the KickStarter campaign, it really seemed as if there would be at least 2 scenarios that wouldn’t require MB elements. Hmmm... Apparently I’ll be keeping my copy of Mythic Battles now! Lol!... A lot more miniature painting in my future I guess. C’est la vie! Another thing; I also thought that the Mythic designers were finding equivalent characters in the Conan world to use the miniatures for. I didn’t originally think that Herecles and Medusa would be used as themselves. Interesting.

Have you received the Corinthia expansion yet @Footballzs? How does it look? I was curious what scenarios it comes with. I’m assuming that there is a good scenario featuring Belit vs. the Winged Ape (and some supernaturally powerful Hyenas)?

    I can't stop!

I pledged for the core game/god pledge which includes the KS exclusives. I also got the compendium/painting guide, some terrain, dice, and the extra game board. And of course, I ordered the Corinthia crossover! My love of the Conan game, and my addiction for collecting Conan stuff made me do it. I received the package but since I’m overseas in Taiwan for awhile I haven’t been able to check it out yet. I started thinking that I would sell the non-Conan stuff on eBay, buuuuuuuut.... The game is getting such solid reviews, the Greek mythology has always been a favorite for me, and the minis look fantastic. So, I’ll probably keep it once I get home and have a look at it. I totally agree that the Conan game really gets in the blood. My gaming crew is addicted. It’s basically all we ever play anymore!
  15. Wow! Looks absolutely incredible. I’ll be grabbing these for sure, even if they don’t get a translated English printing in the U.K. I follow French well enough that combined with my knowledge of the source material, I think I’ll enjoy reading these. Art looks fantastic too. Very cool, thanks for posting this.
  16. Finish off the canon characters and creatures, since there are a fair number not yet represented as minis. More game-boards/locations; in particular we need jungles/swamps, forested border settlements, western Hyborian and near-eastern cities, ancient abandoned temple-cities/pyramids, bloody battlefields with unique terrain formations, and a proper demon haunted dungeon. i know it’s not really feasible, but as long as we are making a wishlist I’d pay plenty for 3-D game-boards and/or modular terrain and scenery.
  17. Great work @Matt John S!!! Love the scenery.
  18. Not crazy about some aspects of this Mercenary Conan paint job, and it’s before I added Dulcote and blood, but I’ll share anyways.... He’s chilling out and drying with a few pals in this pic. Side note: this was the last of my Army Painter paint jobs. I did a couple since then with my new set of Vallejo paint... Wow! Vallejo is noticeably better paint to work with in every way. I’m still a newbie to this mini painting thing, but I can highly recommend it. Also, @Matt John S, you are 100% right about Citadel Purtity Seal being garbage. It ruined my Zelata... I have gone back to reliable old Dulcote. Great stuff... :)
  19. Yeah, he’s not exactly imposing. And too bloated, cartoony, and steroidal for my tastes. Not a terrible sculpt, but not in keeping with the vibe of the game, or the source material, and so also not one of my favorites @Matt John S
  20. On page 1 of this thread @SentMa said the email would go out ‘after the 15th’... That leaves it pretty wide open as to when we should expect the info/email. I’m sure they are working on it. Nice to see how many people are excited for it. Such a great game, glad that a healthy sized community is getting behind it!
  21. I signed up for this forum when it first launched, and I haven’t received an email yet. So, I suspect that everyone worried about being late is probably just fine, and will likely get the email when it eventually goes out...
  22. Haha! Marvel already did that with Conan a couple times... Remember the ‘What If?...’ series? Conan even battled Wolverine in one of those! As for Marvel staying true to REH, only time will tell us that. I saw comments below the announcement article linked to in the OP wherein some people were hoping that the new Conan comics would remove the ‘toxic masculinity’ from the character... WTF?! With regards to when the DH Conan comic began its decline? I reluctantly agree with you. I’m such a huge fan of Roy Thomas that it’s nigh impossible for me to disparage his work, but Road of Kind was ultimately a disappointment. It wasn’t terrible writing, and the pencil work was actually pretty nice (I think the cartoony ink and color work ruined it). RoK was actually very much like Roy’s work from his Marvel Conan days. A solid, pulpy adventure without overly heavy thematics. However, compared with what Dark Horse had built up by that point, it felt rather lightweight. Combine that with art that simply wasn’t as grim, powerful, and captivating as what came before it - and it absolutely broke the continuity. I don’t think it broke the series though - I lay that squarely at the feet of Brian Woods and his puerile ‘adaptation’ of Queen of the Black Coast’. Conan was still Conan in Thomas’ work - but by trying to force weepy notions of post-renaissance romantic love into the relationship between Conan and Belit Woods demonstrated an absolute disregard for the source material and proved that he didn’t understand Conan, Belit, nor the Hyborian age. Conan and Belit take a stroll through the Pictish wilderness to visit Cimmeria so that Conan can introduce Belit to his mother?!?!?!!! Seriously?! The artwork was generally subpar, with Conan transformed into a skinny goth teenager. They spend almost no time on the water being, you know, PIRATES. Conan despairs and weeps for himself... The list of insipid ideas and insults to REH goes on and on. How could the series recover? As someone who owns a copy of every single English language Conan comic in existence (although I haven’t yet nabbed the current Conan/Wonder Woman crossover) I will almost certainly be purchasing the new Marvel issues, I just hope they are worth reading and not just disappointing fodder for my collection...
