  1. Two more questions: 1. Repel = Push Back? 2. Hadrathus does not start with Mitra’s Halo cast?
  2. If you are referring to the “Fire at will” event, then yes.
  3. Sounds great, just wish I had the Black Ones.
  4. Just setting up for Fight or Flight. Two comments: 1. There is no mention of what to use to represent the Medallion. The Stygian Artifact? 2. There is an error with the Crossbowmen tile. You use the green tile but it shows the grey tile stats. The actual green tile has zero armour the one shown in the set up has one armour. I will play this weekend and report back.
  5. I finished ‘The Time for Flight is Nigh’ and here are my thoughts. The OL won, but I made some errors in play that contributed to this (it’s strange that when I play both sides and the OL wins I always feel I have lost even though I am also playing as the OL, there may be a thesis in there 😊). I had picked up the key, spellbook and warlock documents but did not manage to open the chest, Hadrathus was in the space with the chest at the end of turn 7 but, because of one of my errors, did not have the key! As mentioned in my previous post I didn’t spend a lot of gems. I found the scenario requires a lot of planning on how to move through levels and not necessarily to battle on the hero side, whereas the OL is looking at how to hinder. The scenario is easier for the OL in decision making than for the heroes. As OL I found my thoughts were focussed how do I stop them getting all the items. The assassins being constantly reinforced is also an added complication that brings a lot to the scenario. The OL can use them to help with hindering, they are easy to kill but annoying. Surprisingly not once did I have to have a hero go into cautious mode. The Telekinesis spell is great, without it I would not have had a chance. I personally think the scenario is well balanced, kudos on that, and if not for my errors, the heroes could have succeeded but it would still have been a close-run thing. Now for ‘Fight or Flight’ (Victory points: OL 1, Heroes 0; carry forward items: Spellbook)
  6. Ok, started the first scenario (The Time for Flight is Nigh) and am enjoying it so far. It has a different feel to the usual scenario, there is less out and out attack and kill but more “let’s slow them down”. As OL I am focussing on hindering rather than killing as 7 rounds is not really long enough to do that. When I first set it up I used the Dark Demon card then realised it was the Evil Hound. A big difference otherwise Hadrathus would be trapped forever😊 The tile image in the scenario was in French and I didn’t realise until reading the special rules that it was the evil hound tile. The heroes are really focussed on getting Hadrathus to the various items. I have found that I don’t spend many gems as I am being very strategic. I have just finished turn 4 and hadrathus has gotten the key and spellbook and Shaun Miang has moved down 1 floor. I made one stupid error as I moved Hadrathus down to level 3 but...embarrassing to admit...forgot to grab the key! I then wasted time having to go back and get it. Sorry but I didn’t have as much time as I’d hoped to play. My wife keeps wanting me to do stuff...oh well what can one do? Next update soon.
  7. No. The 2 doors outlined in red cannot be opened by the heroes. That’s why they need tools to escape through a window. Somehow that bit of information was left out of the special rules. It is explained in more detail in this thread on Boardgamegeek.
  8. Hi all, I have finally finished my move. My games room is now clear of boxes (mostly) so I am hoping to get a game or two in this weekend. Sorry for not being part of this over the last few weeks but house moving takes up all your time! Which scenario needs testing?
  9. One other thing. 2EN will contain Conan scenarios, 3EN will contain Mythic Battles: Pantheon scenarios.
  10. They’re not even ready for ordering. They have been announced but not produced as yet. The French version of compendium 2 has been released but not the English one.
  11. They haven’t been released yet.
  12. Just to let everyone know most, if not all, of the scenarios from Compendium 1 are available from the Conan scenarios site here: https://www.conan-scenarios.com/.
  13. Ummm...Neil, I think we got the message😂
  14. What? Isn’t that what everybody would do?
  15. Reading all this is giving me withdrawal systems. My games are all packed away awaiting my move next week. First thing unpacked will be my Conan game (ok, second, a bottle of Scotch may be first) and then it’s back into it.
  16. No probs, but to be safe also check your inbox, sent items, outbox, the recycle bin and that drawer in the kitchen where all those bits end up, you never know.
  17. Oh, not sure what happened there.
  18. No, you haven’t missed anything yet. At some stage all people registered on this site will get an email asking if they want the 2EN and/or the 3EN compendiums (compendia?), similar to the 1st compendium. The emails haven’t gone out yet.
  19. I have been having trouble finding time to test these. I have had the board set up for the first scenario in my games room for over a week but haven't managed to actually play. Sorry for the lack of testing on my part, I'll get there.
  20. I found it! It was on Boardgamegeek here but it wasn't formally resolved. Also the LOS wording in English was also a mistranslation. English says "not in line of site", whereas French states 'without line of site'. It was meant to mean that LOS is not taken into consideration, so you can mind control anyone.
  21. I seem to recall this being dicussed previously but not sure where. But I think the french version was deemed correct. Not Quite Dead, I am reasonably confident that your interpretation of the French text is correct and that is the way the spell should be used. However I am also willing to be corrected.
  22. No, they cannot team up, unless stated otherwise in the scenario, so it is intended.
  23. Well it was basically put together by French fans who also did most of the translation. The French community is much more active than the English one in terms of Conan and I will accept translation errors. Maybe after the second Conan compendium is translated and done the English community could put one together themselves?
  24. I had a go at The Trap 5b and here is what happened: The Trap (b) thoughts. The play: The heroes won but it was round 14, only one turn to go and it would have been a stalemate. Is it expected that the scenario ends at the end of turn 15, or do you keep going until it’s over? I found that the river can get clogged up, especially when Yogah only has a couple of gems left. Atali was killed in turn zero, the scorpions after about 6 turns, and the dark Demon at about 10. Yogah had 2 gems worth of health which meant that the OL was hesitant to activating him as he could easisly lose those 2 gems. I made the decision to pay 6 gems to remove three dead tiles but I think that was a mistake as I then left myself short of gems. However if I hadn’t dredged I would have had three dead tiles plus two event tiles I couldn’t use. It may be worth considering splitting the event tiles, one that is used to activate Yogah and the other for reinforcements. It is a toss up as to whether I should have left the dead tiles in the river and payed gems to move them when needed or dredge them. Maybe I should have just removed one or two. There was a period during the game when the OL wasn’t doing much because the heroes were just trying to get to the top level. It needs to be specified how many movement points it costs to move through the stairwells. I eventually played it was 2. However, the first time I moved someone through the stairwell I spent one movement point. It was only later that I questioned that decision and made it 2. It does make a big difference because if it is 1 Ikhmet can move to the second level in one turn, but if it is 2 or more he cannot and can be blocked by the Dark Demon. In my play Conan did most of the damage on Yogah and Hadrathus did most of the damage to Thoth Amon with his Lightning Strikes. The 3 gems that come with the Spellbook are very handy. Having said that the killing blow was delivered by Shintu. Thoughts: A tense scenario that can have periods of caution. This scenario had a chess like feel at times. You could almost feel the tension at times (and I was playing solo). The situation with Yogah is very clever. He is reasonably powerful but causing himself to take damage makes the OL have to think carefully about using him, particularly if his gems fall low. As OL I basically sacrificed him at the end with the hope that I could keep Thoth Amon alive. I could see that some players may find this scenario frustrating because there are many times when players are cautious. Also most the heroes do not really get into the game for a while as it takes a long time to get from level 1 to 3. I will probably need to play this again because I am not sure if I used the best tactics, neither as OL nor as the heroes. Conclusion: A very well thought scenario that uses some unusual ideas. Subverting the levels in the dungeon was a surprise and paring with the ruined fort was a masterstroke. NB: I didn’t have enough red gems (it takes 31 and I have 25) however that was not a big issue as I made up the difference with by replacing 6 of Yogah’s gems with blues giving him 6 of each. This didn’t matter as his gems are separate from the rest of the OL’s.
