  1. I know what the easy one is, but have no idea for the second one. I was just waiting to let someone else answer if they has recognize the movies, but I can give my answer straight away if needed: The first one is The Blues Brothers (1980).
  2. From the album: The Shivering Hands

I really like these nice looking 3D halos replacing the cardboard tokens in Conan. They can be bought there.
  3. Yep! You're right! For the record, the difficult movie in my post was A Fantastic Fear of Everything (2012). Here's the trailer: It's your turn to propose an easy and a difficult movie.
  4. Neat! So that's where the magic sword-swinging happened.
  5. Hum. The Cross Plains Public Library being, according to Google, the Library where REH's manuscripts are kept, in the town where REH lived most of his life and died. I didn't know that. Thanks for clarifying!
  6. Huh. It's been some time since I haven't post there. Maybe some clue may attract new players in this game, or give a hand (if needed) to old ones... The director of the first movie is Quentin Tarantino. The main actor of the second movie is Simon Pegg.
  7. I may sound ignorant, but... what is the Cross Plains Library RPG?
  8. From the album: The Shivering Hands

She was slender, yet formed like a goddess: at once lithe and voluptuous. Her only garment was a broad silken girdle. Her white ivory limbs and the ivory globes of her breasts drove a beat of fierce passion through the Cimmerian’s pulse, even in the panting fury of battle. Her rich black hair, black as a Stygian night, fell in rippling burnished clusters down her supple back. Her dark eyes burned on the Cimmerian. Robert E. Howard, Queen of the Black Coast
  9. This was a quite difficult miniature to paint, at least for me. The face and the jewels in the hair and on the body seem to be a bit random. I hope the other Bêlit will be more enjoyable to paint. What does your Queen of the Black Coast look like?

Hear ye, hear ye! The campaign for the Book of Set shall start the fifth of september and last five days. In addition to the Compendium itself, you may buy Conan All-in, King's Pledge and bundles including the KS exclusive miniatures.
  11. Yesterday I played Henchmania. I was hooked by its neat and humorous illustrations (it was an instabuy when I saw it in the retail), but the game seems to be more than a pretty ugly face. In this game, up to five players are lords in the medieval city of Montfleury. As the king is about to appoint his new seneschal, you will have to use your henchmen in order to get enough Renown Points to get this prestigious office. The game mechanic is quite simple: the game is divided in four rounds, and each round in three steps. First step: each player places their meeples on quarters of the city that allow him to draw specific cards. For instance, the Castle quarter allow you to win Renown with entertaining henchmen, while the Church quarter get you cards that may modify the issue of duels with other Lords, or the effect of other cards, and the Armory gives you equipment for duels. Once all meeples have been placed in the town quarters you may win additional cards for each quarter where you have a majority. Second step, you play the cards you've drawn. Some of them have a permanent effect, other must be activated or discarded when you use them, and the other are instant. During this phase, you can defy the other players in duel, which bring you a lot of Renown points. Third step, you apply the effect of your permanent cards. A game lasts less than one hour. After the first game, I was slightly disappointed by the fact that most points are made by duelling with other players. I'm not sure the other way to get Renown are effective enough, but this is not something that can be told for sure after only one game.
  12. Like some banks, Conan seems to be too big too fall.
  13. I was in Strasbourg yesterday and I think I might have seen it at Philibert's... On the moment, though, I didn't remember the name of the game, so I haven't bought it... yet.
  14. These two pages feature two excerpts of Robert E. Howard's Beyond the Black River and two texts by @Pallantides about the Picts and their shaman Zogar Sag. As I haven't read yet that novel and fear to be spoiled, I haven't read the texts. But it seems quite interesting for those who like to have more background.
  15. Some new visual of the Book of Set, published on the Tric Trac website: The Book shall content new scenarii, artworks, photography of miniatures painted by Martin Grandbarbe, and excerpts of Robert E Howard texts. In the French version, there will be texts by @Pallantides. I don't know if he will write something in English too.
  16. If you're talking about the fan-made compendium that the French-speaking community printed some time ago (and which is completely unrelated with the Book of Set Compendium, which is made by Monolith), you should fine an answer in English here. Besides, the scenarii of this compendium are currently translated into English or proofread. Some of them are already downloadable on this forum: - Vaniria is in the Fort - Thak the Simian - A Heart to be Taken - The Red Night - The Sepulcher - The Most Barbarous Game - Camel Madness - Rescue at the Top - The King's Wolves - The Abomination of the Black River (Campaign) The other scenarii should appear there in due time. ;)
  17. This afternoon, my brother and his girlfriend called at our home, and we played the second scenario: The Rescue of Sir Ragnar. It was a tensed (but enjoyable) game, as the heroes still don't have any equipment. As the Barbarian, I was badly wounded by goblins (!) and had only one remaining hit point at the end of the game. The many random encounters when looking for treasures were quite a problem too. My son, playing the elf, spent a nice afternoon too, even though he's still too afraid to get wounded to be a reliable partner. After the game, we all take brushes and started painting. Now working on the remaining Chaos Warriors and the Fimirs.
  18. @SentMa: Shouldn't this topic be in 'Board games', like in the French Community Forum ?
  19. News from the second KS of Conan: The scenarii compendium will be called The Book of Set and this is its cover: And, in addition to the all-in and the King's Pledge, a small number of bundles containing the KS exclusive add-ons should be released (id est - unless I'm mistaken - bundles with the Giant Wolves, the Vanir Valkyrie, the Campaign book, the Sabretooth Tiger, Baal-Pteor, the Black Dragons and the Demon of the earth).
  20. This evening, I finished the arch-enemy, Morcar. He is the kind of lich for which one hi-five isn't good enough. Best boss ever.
  21. Hum. This Blackwood game sounds interesting... I like worker placement games, like Agricola. Could you come back to us when this is available in shop? Kudos to your friend for publishing a game!
  22. On the French Community Forum, Igor had a brilliant idea: to replace the Reinforcement tokens by the Torch Stands of the Stretch Goals. I could beat myself to not have thought about that earlier. As a beginner painter, this has left me with a difficulty: how to paint fire? Here are two tutorials that may come handy for inexperienced people like me:
  23. After a hiatus I just finished a Chaos Warrior. I used the same colour pattern that I used when I painted mine, back in the nineties.
  24. I'll play at this scenario tonight. If anyone wants to play it with the Giant Snake miniature, here is an alternate tile for the Megalania: NB: In the setup of the scenario, it is recommanded to use Savage Belit with a short sword. This equipment card isn't part of the King Pledge or the Core Box. It comes from the Brom box. ;)
