  3. Thanks for the clarification, I fully acknowledge my confusion regarding this rule. Much appreciated! Awesome to have this forum around. I visit BGG as well from time to time, but it is really great to have a forum dedicated to this excellent game.

  5. Agreed, wholeheartedly. I finished painting CW literally one day before Conan arrived on my doorstep. I'd love to mix it up with these two stellar games...
  6. Trying to keep things slithering along with this show and tell miniatures topics... I'd really love to see more from all the painters out there (who are way better than me)! I'm still pretty new to this stuff and learning all the time. Here's my effort: Once again, I'm generally following the game art, and once again, it's fairly sloppy and rushed but looks good enough on the gameboard to enhance the gaming (which is my only real goal).

  8. Well... a few disclaimers: I don't really like the design of the dragon. The sculpt is well done, in as far as the artist did a nicely detailed and accurate 3D rendering of the artwork which was decided upon for the miniature. But, in my humble opinion, the base design and pose are lacking. First, it doesn't really resemble the description in REH's Red Nails. Second, it doesn't feel like a natural creature of the Earth, much less the Hyborian age. Third, it really doesn't have a menacing or threatening presence. It looks like a dog at play. A smile (?), paws spread out, a downward arched back and raised head. It totally looks like a friendly puppy dog waiting for its' owner to toss a ball during a game of fetch. All that said, as a Conan fanatic, I went All-In on this game... and so I got the dragon irregardless. Here's my kinda' sloppy paint job, again, I'm generally trying to follow the game art with regards to color choices. Also, I'd love to see what you all did with the mini!
  9. It is a decent film, with a couple inspired scenes and good acting all around. However, it has plenty of inaccuracies and cannot be considered as a reliable portrait of REH.
  10. Ron Cobb's production designs have always been absolutely peerless, and his work on CTB is a landmark achievement IMO. As much as I enjoyed Jackson's LOTR films (with some reservations), it was a huge disappointment to hear some of the production team disparage Conan on the extended edition extras. I assume it came from a place of ignorance, because CTB is simply as good as it gets in big budget filmmaking.

  13. Hard for me to pin down what would be my favorite Conan stuff... I have a fairly extensive collection, including a complete run of all the English language Conan comics and magazines from Marvel and Dark Horse. I've collected all the toys, posters, and books that's I can get my hands on. I have the Lancer and Ace and Del Rey editions of the original works, as well as at least one copy of all the pastiche novels... I've slowed down collecting, but I do have most of it displayed in an innocuous corner of my basement. Here's a peek at some of it:
  14. I'll take the time to add 'likes' to all these posts later. For now, I just want to say that you all are doing some awesome work here! I love the Conan films. 'Barbarian' because it's still the best low-fantasy film ever made, and a film entirely worthy of its' source material (even if it's not exactly accurate). 'Destroyer' because it thrilled me as a child, and is actually about as close to a live-action version of the Thomas/Buchema era Marvel comics as a fan could hope for. Keep up the great work!
  15. That statement refers to one arrow allowing one re-roll of any die of that type. It stands to reason that if a character tile like the Archers shows two yellow dice with two re-roll arrows, the same die may be re-rolled twice. That was made very explicit in the original rule book, but I agree that it isn't made as clear in Version 2 rules.
  16. I still read this the way I play it. An arrow means you may re-roll one die of that TYPE, it does not say that SPECIFIC die. Would love an official ruling from Monolith. Hello Matt John?
  17. While I'd still love to get around to building huts for this gameboard (and scenery for all the boards), I started out small by making 3-D fencing for the Pict village. My reasons were twofold; scenery is always cool and enhances the thematic and visual factors, but I also wanted to improve gameplay by making it much more obvious where players can move on this map. I cut out cardboard shapes that aligned with the map art, used some quick-drying modeling clay to sculpt the dirt mounds, and broke toothpicks in half for the boma fencing. I gave it a quick brown paint job, leaving the broken tops of the toothpicks bare. I had picked up a bag of dried moss and a couple model trees from a craft store and worked those in as well. Really brought the gameboard to life!
  18. That's not how I understand the rules. Two yellow dice with re-roll symbols means that after rolling the dice you have up to two re-rolls for any of the yellow dice. Which means you can re-roll the same yellow die twice. I felt that was made very clear in the first edition of the rules. Perhaps I need to take a closer look at the V2 rules...

  20. Nice work barbarians! You are all painting some killer minis. I'm still fairly new to it, but painting the Conan game (after some Zombicide) has been a great way to learn. I'm trying to follow the colors in the game art, and without looking really close at the mummies they seemed mostly brown to me. Now that I see the blue tones, and the results you all are getting, I'll consider painting some of the alternate mummy poses similarly.
  21. Haha! Too true NQD... I was feeling good about the pace of my painting for the game, but then the three big box Expansions arrived, and then summer arrived.... Well, Cromdammit, I'm getting back at it asap!!
  22. Here's a few of my demons... Generally following the color schemes of the game art. As always, learning to be more patient and precise. Still fairly sloppy, but I'm working at it.
