  1. Thanks for the feedback - and the prooofreading, I will make the changes if I can, but I think the spell names are set in the scenario editor. I think I gave Shentu 2 Khitan swords so the heroes would have some more firepower, I should write in something about using something else to stand in for the second card. I should also write in some suggestion for noting the extra yellow die you mentioned.

    Glad you enjoyed the scenario!

  2. As a fan-made thing, if I was involved I would prefer just doing a Conan pdf mag. I have no interest in the other games. If Monolith did something official then it would of course make sense to do all the games. I don't think a fan-made creation would have any issues with license, as it would be free, as are all the creations we do here on The Overlord. I am sure each game's community could probably come up with their own "magazines".

  3. I would love to see Monolith package this and release a nice print run of it, we need to promote the game more and get new content out there. Of course part of that is personal interest - I am proud to be part of this creation and hope there will be more opportunities for creators to get "endorsed" or some kind of backing from Monolith to help keep things going!

EDIT: The idea of a periodic fan-made pdf magazine came to me, it could have some scenarios, maybe painting advice, new skills/equipment, a gallery of fan painted miniatures... @Matt John S, do  you think Monolith might be ok with something like this? The content creators./contributors would get some exposure of course, but it would also help keep the game relevant and perhaps reach new users.

Any scenario that comes after Fight or Flight also needs to have blurb for the Medallion. "If the heroes are holding the Medallion of Zhangpau..."

Alright, I will take care of that as well - thanks for the heads up.

Edit: Actually there is no Dark Demon in mine, unless the medallion works against the Outer Dark Demon as well?

  5. I would say mine is done. I did make the small to change to Crushing Burden that allows the hero to spend gems to move despite the onus of the idol, hopefully giving it a more heroic feel and also keeping the Overlord from being able to completely stop the hero with the idol, which had been mentioned as a possible area for change. Otherwise I am pleased with mine.

  6. I don't know that the spellbook needs to be explained really - there is a pretty good gap between scenarios where equipment could have been changed during the travelling time.  I kind of like the flow of my intro as is, so would find some other way to explain the spellbook if needed.

Also, I changed the event "Crushing Burden" slightly - I made the movement value "0" instead of the exertion limit "1"; this way the hero can spend gems to move through extraordinary effort. It will still be be tough to deal with, but I think this makes for more heroic potential.

  7. Well the idea of the jumping off the wall is more that the character is suddenly overcome with lotus fumes and some kind of magic left behind by Yara, and this makes the character think they have wings like Yag Kosha did at one time, and they jump thinking they can fly with these wings, part of the whole fortress as foe thing. If it doesnt come across that way I can always change it. The outcome of this event is sure to annoy any player anyway.

  8. I am fine with whatever is decided - let me know if I need to add the shard back in. In mine the shard is created by destroying the idol, so it doesn't add any kind of actual gameplay, just would need to be written back into the scenario. Would it have the same benefit as the crown or do we want something different for the different items?

  9. After reading the last few posts, I don't think the crowns should be part of @Neil Amswych 's scenario; however it could be added into mine - perhaps Yara stored one away in his abandoned Vilayet outpost along with the Idol of Yag. I don't think it would change the feel of mine very much while it would with Fight or Flight. So maybe crowns in 4 scenarios? Or multiples in some?

    Hey Guys,

Any thoughts on the Xuthal Crowns that Ken and I mentioned back on March 22?

    @Ken @Matt John S @Neil Amswych @Primeval

I think that since this is a campaign and it can be assumed that the heroes are carrying gear that would sustain them on this journey, and which is not counting toward encumbrance, the Crowns can be included among those items and just carried over. Now, if they become items that are used during scenarios or provide a benefit in the scenario, then I think that changes to including them as equipment for the scenario.

There is a Community Campaign Hub in the Homemade Unofficial Scenarios section under Advice, Ideas, Creation. I think comments would be best over there.

    Thanks for helping us out!

Excellent write up there to describe the campaign - nice work, and thanks @drmauric!

EDIT: I guess it was somewhere else, but wherever it was nice work :)  I even got one of my phrases from my scenario used in it!

I played The Fate of Yag-Kosha. Heroes won once, Overlord won once. Both were similar in that the side that won really wore the other side out while staying strong themselves. For example when the Heroes won, it was no problem dispatching the suddenly appearing Assassins, when the OL won, the Heroes had no hope of escaping the Assassins.

    A couple notes:

    On the map:

Place tokens on the rock slides

Maybe use red doors to signify that you have special rules?

Maybe point out exactly which area you mean for the Heroes to throw the Artifact into the fire. I know there is a big fire on the map, but you know how gamers can be. ;) Clearly labeling it will dispel all doubt and potential confusion. (Maybe mark it with the red X or call it "the area with the number 2 token" or mark it with an event flame token.)

Events- like I mentioned earlier- make sure you write in there that only one event is to be activated- again just to dispel the possibility of confusion.

One other question I had was for the Viridian Wings event- I took it as written and put the Heroes any where I wanted- usually as far away from the goal as possible. Did I do that the right way?  Typically I put the Hero outside of the Fortress so that they had to spend huge amounts of gems to get back in.  BTW I liked how it could only be used once per zone it might be a good idea to tell people to some how mark the zones that the event has been used in.

One suggestion- the Assassins- maybe cut them down to 3. Since they are going to appear near the end of the game and chances are the OL is just going to drop them on top of the guy with the Artifact and then hit the Hero with the Crushing Burden event- dang... gets potentially overwhelming.

Over all things clicked well. The events are cool and critical. Movement is a huge issue because no one has the Climb skill and the rock slides are brutal- both sides need to be aware of that. Both Heroes and OL had to be creative to win. The frustration of being tossed out of the Fortress in a lotus daze was equal to the frustration of killing the Outer Dark Demon in one attack.

Thanks for the great input @drmauric - I made the changes you suggested.

I appreciate the comment on the events - critical is a good word for them, as the setting itself is meant to be a foe just as much as the scorpions or demon!

You did indeed handle Viridian Wings correctly as it was written - but I wrote it incorrectly :) I have fixed that as well - it should be an adjacent ground zone, and can be inside or outside the fortress.

As for movement - do you think I should send the heroes in rested at full health since they are going to need all the movement they can get? I can rewrite the intro to reflect that as well.
