Knocked these out pretty quickly, but I still need to hit them with some varnish. I might go the extra mile and add some foliage, but with so much to paint for MB, I kinda doubt I’ll get around to it anytime soon... I really love adding scenery to any game board, so these will likely get a lot of use outside of MB too.

So, I’m kind of surprised that I haven’t seen an official post here about the new LOS tool for Conan. Maybe I just missed it? Perhaps Monolith is waiting to create an English language version of the tool? Or perhaps waiting until they have the tool expanded to include Batman and MB? At any rate, I’ll include the link that was shared over on KickStarter. It takes you to the French version of The Overlord, and even though the Game Boards are listed in French, it’s still very easy for non-French speakers to use...

I think I’ll try to get some more MB painted minis shown on this forum. I have to be honest, the Gallery mode isn’t as satisfying to me as the way we all have been showing our Conan minis in individual posts. With the Gallery, it isn’t as obvious when there are new postings, and IMO it isn’t as easy to look at the actual images. So, I’ll see how it goes creating a series of “Show Yours” posts and hope that others get in the game. I’m not a mini painting artist like some others on the forum, so I’m mostly excited to see the work of others!
My usual caveats apply; I try to follow the game art for my color choices, and I’m painting fairly quickly for the game table, not a display case. 🙂
All that said, here is the first monster I’ve tackled as I get going on MB, the mighty Minotaur!

Yup. Amazon, or almost any hardware store should have them. Inexpensive, and effective. Better safe than sorry I think.

You can pick up a decent respirator mask at any hardware store with replaceable filters designed for small particulates or chemicals. I have a workshop area in my garage with fans and a ventilating system so I can prime or spray paint year round in a controlled environment.
But however you go at it, definitely pay attention to excessive heat/cold and humidity, as that can adversely affect spray paint/primer.

Thanks brother, I went with green to match the tiles. My conjecture is that all the young scorpions are male and thusly a different color than their queen, as the Brood Mother eats any females to prevent competition. When she’s old enough, she chooses a strong female and allows her to grow and take over the operation... 🙂
I only have a base set of Vallejo colors, so any color variations on any of my minis are mixed up on the spot. I remember that I used black primer on all the scorpions (after priming them white first, wasn’t think ahead), and then just quickly dry-brushed colors on that. I knocked out the whole batch in less than an hour I think. If I recall, these guys were just the plain green with a bit of yellow, and maybe some white to brighten up the hue? But I’m guessing.

@Matt John S, just looked at the description of the new episode. Sounds like a hoot, will give a listen later today. Curious to hear your Ahnuld...

@Ken, we actually just got the game to the table last weekend for the first time. Loved it. So thematic and cinematic. I have plans to build a tricked out game board next, I’ll be sure to post pics when I finish building it.

Umm... Somehow he missed the call to assemble, lol. Honestly, all the pics I’ve posted here have been quick iPhone snaps without much attention paid to composition or lighting. I really do plan to get around to taking pics with one of my better cameras and spending some time on making more artful shots. That always seems to get lost in the shuffle with so many other minis to paint and the fact that the finished minis only get out of the box on game nights.
I’ll add an old WIP pic of N’Gora to make up for it...

Good work @garbetsp, much appreciated. By Crom (slams a dagger into the table) we want the Compendiums in English! Hopefully Monolith can make this happen for us loyal fans.

Keep at it @rhogg27184! Lots of good work you’ve done. It felt good when I finally polished off painting all my Conan stuff. I thought I was done at one point, but then realized I had doors and the Corinthian peasants to do. I downed a big mug of ale when I got them all off the painting table...
Now that I have Nemesis done, Mythic Battles: Pantheon is staring me in the face. 😬

Wow!... I’m blown away by the efforts the community is making with home-brewed scenarios. In fact, calling them home-brewed is misleading. It might be accurate, but honestly, most of the scenarios showing up here on The Overlord are as good, or better, than any ‘official’ scenario. So far the ones I’ve tried out and studied are balanced and, most importantly, they have very concise and detailed rules. One of the only complaints I’ve had about some of the ‘official’ scenarios is in the details. There have been a number of scenarios that led to BIG rule questions in my group, which are simply not answered in the descriptions.
Great job addressing all of the possible questions that could arise while playing these awesomely fun scenarios!!!

Great work @The Captain!

Nice work @garbetsp! I TOTALLY agree that the wolf minis are very very plain, even lackluster. Compare them to the Foo Dogs, or Slasher to see what a scary looking wolf could look like. Hell, even with their soft details, the Hyenas are way better than these wolves. I might eventually get into basing my minis when I get cranking on Mythic Battles, but I generally just go black with the bases. Something about bases not matching all the possible game boards kind of bugs me. Also, I'm speed painting to get the minis onto my game table, so I've just not played around with bases yet. Your work here is inspiring me to give it a go. 😃

Sounds great! I’ll send you a message @Matt John S, let’s get connected via email and hash out the details. I have a few tweaks to the logo in mind yet, and I’d love to incorporate any feedback your team has.

Hey @Matt John S,
Had a few minutes to spare at work and whipped up a slightly more splashy logo for your podcast. Let me know if you guys would have any interest in it...

What the Hell, Show Your Hades!
in Paint and scenery

I wanted him to look kinda dirty and ragged, like his game art suggests, but maybe I went a little too far down that road... but whatever. One of the freedoms that comes with painting a TON of minis is that it gets easier to just accept a paint job that you aren’t thrilled with and move on to the next - at least that’s how it is for me. 🙂
He looks good enough on the game table at any rate, so I’m moving on to something else! Maybe Medusa...
