  1. The latest installment of my Savage Avengers series of scenarios for Conan by Monolith is available to download. This one is for the solo/ co-op mode found in the Monolith Sourcebook.

Wolverine and Black Widow join Conan in the search for Bruce Banner, who has been compromised by what appears to be Stygian sorcery.

Savage Avengers: Compromised is inspired by a Conan Vs. variant cover from The Immortal Hulk comic. When I saw it, I wondered how that fight would turn out.

This series of scenarios is based on the Savage Avengers comic. My goal is to write a Conan scenario that can be played with regular Conan game content- but with a Marvel style storyline for those who may be interested and have buckets of old Heroclix sitting around. I match each Marvel character to a Conan character. For example, in Compromised, I use the Demon of the Earth to represent the Hulk. Niord, from the Nordheim expansion, is used to represent Wolverine. Ambidextrous and red defense dice are perfect for his claws and healing factor.

So it works both ways- you can play it with your regular Conan content or you can swap in some Heroclix and go for the Savage Avengers vibe! Enjoy!

  2. My Daughter is one of my primary Conan players and main playtester when I write scenarios. I recently snagged a copy of Claustrophobia-1643 and she liked the minis and the art for the Guardian and the Swordswoman. So I asked @Ken to make up some Hero cards for her.

This is great because we've been useing other fan made proxies for female characters. (There's some awesome ones posted in a thread called "Feminising Conan" here and on BGG) But our substitute minis never matched the hero card. For example we had a great hero card with classic Larry Elmore art, but a pretty plain Reaper mini that was close but not really that close. With the Claustrophobia characters, we finally got a match, minis and Hero card.

My Daughter also noted that their outfits are "less sketchy" than some of the female outfits in Conan. The awesome thing is, now she has some minis and matching Hero cards that she's excited about using and they won't stick out like a sore thumb on the table.

The Guardian has Conan's stats and the Swordswoman has Belit's stats. Nice and simple. Easy to swap out, no playtesting required.

    You can download them here:

  3. Feast for the Starving God is a 3 part story campaign in which the player roles are reversed. The Heroes play the part of a villainous pirate gang trying to secure a cargo of flesh for the nefarious purposes of their employer. Meanwhile, the Overlord takes on the role of the helpless villagers and those who would seek to thwart the Starving God at all costs.

You will need access to a King Pledge, Kushite Witch Hunters and the Corinthia expansion to fully enjoy this campaign.  NOTE: the Khitai expansion is also used, but is not listed in the document. Components from other expansions are used but easy substitution suggestions are given.

  4. @Lone Pathfinder

The Overlord controls the Black Dragons in order to interfere with King Conan's search. Since they are overlord minions they aren't used to actually attack the Strangler. (They can't hurt him anyway because of his 3 armor. ) So even though, thematically, they are hunting for the Strangler, they can't really find him. And they interact with him as a member of the same side.

Conan can also move the ladies of the night into a Black Dragon's area for protection agaisnt the Strangler. So the Black Dragons are kind of pawns for both sides.

This kind of represents, in the story,  them searching for the Strangler but never discovering who he is.  And of course, the King doesn't want to be discovered either, so I felt it best to have them on the Overlord side to be a hassle for Conan. Like the police in a Batman story, maybe.

Hope that helps you see what I had in mind for this scenario. I'll definitely consider how I can make that less confusing.

I also wanted it to be a 1 Hero scenario, because Conan was solo in the comic. And I usually tend to avoid the kind of special rules it would take to make it a 1v1v1. Though that is not a bad idea. Having Pallantides as a 3rd side, hunting for both. Hmmm...

Thanks for checking it out and for your feedback.

  5. King Conan takes to the back streets and shadow laden alleys as a "strange phantom in the night" in an effort to stop a savage Strangler that has been stalking Tarantia's "entertainment" district. Inspired by Marvel's Conan the Barbarian #4 "The King in a Cage" by Jason Aaron.

Low gem counts make this more a battle of witts than steel. As Conan must maneuver his allies and find the evidence against the Strangler while avoiding the watchful eye of his own elite guards, the Black Dragons. The Stangler races against time and the "strange phantom", he too, wants to avoid attention. And the King dying in the Stangler's favorite haunt would bring way too much attention...

  6. The two stories in The Overlord Magazine vol 2, Part of the Host and Thog are fantastic.

Super creepy, Lovecraft meets Howard, Twilight Zone, mind bending craziness. Well done @Not Quite Dead and @Pallantides

"He languished in the dark, viscous abyss below Xuthal."

"All the obscenity and salacious infamy spawned in the muck of the abysmal pits of Life..."

Very vibrant story telling. Especially considering how both stories end.  You guys took me to a cold, dark, lonely place.

    Thanks for sharing.

Compendium scenarios have always been downloadable for free on this very website. At least for Compendium #1 and #2.

This will save you money next time.

And don't hesitate to submit content for the next issues. Maybe it will end up printed and some readers will find it worth. Or maybe some others will tell it's utter shit. Difficult to see is the future.

@Roolz Where do we submit content?

  8. "An unsanctioned team of heroes."

Inspired by Marvel's upcoming Savage Avengers comic.

A fully functional Conan scenario with suggestions to play it within the Marvel Universe.

I designated different Conan heroes and allies as Wolverine, Electra, Punisher, Venom and Brother Voodoo. Crossbowmen represent machine gun armed thugs. Stygian Assassins represent Hand Assassins.

I used Heroclix for the Marvel characters and a couple Reaper Nova Corps. models for the machine gunners.

If someone is interested in re-skinning all the Hero cards, tiles and tokens for Marvel, let me know.

    Enjoy!

  9. An Unfortunate Interruption is sort of an outtake from Whispers From Stygia. Early on we wanted to include a couple of sidequests, to involve more authors and to add to the replayability of the campaign. The idea was nixed as we had our hands full with the core campaign. This has been written for a while and I just want to put it out there as an option to enhance Whispers From Stygia or to encourage you to give it another play through. Enjoy.

  10. To answer your questions about The Blasphemy of Gwaednerth:

Yes, those are the stats for Civilians.

Skuthus kills Civilians by attacking them normally and scoring at least 1 hit. (Remember he is equipped with the Sacrificial Dagger so he rolls, if I remember correctly, 3 yellow dice)

Civilians do not move, attack or defend. (Imagine them as bound sacrificial victims) Gwaednerth cannot spend gems to defend Civilians.

The Blasphemy of Gwaednerth is intentionally designed to be a very quick game. It may seem difficult for the Heroes to win at first but there are solid strategies to win. I don't want to give away the strategies, that is for the player to discover. 🙂 But Gwaednerth is a killing machine and the Overlord does not have many gems to work with. A balance is there but it is extremely delicate for both sides.

  11. Yes. That is allowed. And he could also attack in area C if he had enough gems.

And please don't feel dense. I also feel dense trying to explain it. 🙂

I appreciate the questions, I want this to be as clear as possible for

    everyone.

  12. A better summary would be "A hero can only make 1 single attack per turn per area he moves into". Because if he uses gems to move out of an area he may make an attack in the next area.

I'll need to look at The Blasphemy of Gwaednerth to answer the other question. I'll get back to you later today.

  13. Correct. Those are the options. This is to simulate that the dog sled is constantly in motion. So a Hero can only make one attack in an area before he must move again or end his turn. Therefore a Hero can move into an area, make an attack then choose to move again or end his turn. Or to start his turn he may attack once then move.

    Make sense? 🙂

  14. Atali's tile is placed on the Hero playesrs ide of the table of the table for them to use.

Wolves- it means more than one wolf may be placed in an area if needed. If there is an open area the wolf should be placed in it. If there is no open area the Overlord may start putting another wolf in each area. Does that make sense?

Fleeing- yes. Atali must be escorted off the board from one of those areas for the Heroes to win.

Thanks for taking the time to get back to us. Feedback is critical to these homebrewed efforts. We are very aware that homebrew efforts have a less than stellar reputation. Let's be honest there are some sub par attempts out there. Or some are posted that weren't ready yet. It's a bummer to waste your time on a flop. I understand and agree with that. But more often than not we don't receive any feedback so we tend to assume everything is working just fine.

It's always good to hear what we have done right and even what can be improved upon. Believe it or or not the group that I've worked with most is actually open to hearing constructive criticism. Writing these can be tricky because you tend to develop blind spots. Because as a writer you know what you mean, but someone else may not. An outside set of eyes seeing it for the first time is very helpful.

It's very encouraging to know that these projects are being played, understood and enjoyed. Hopefully we can bring you more. Thank you.
